That's probably what's causing the delay. You shouldn't need to be amplifying the audio from the TV.
Apologies - I meant to say reciever.

I think I'll have to run component to my tv - it seems to be the only way to solve the problem.

If your amp also receives audio through hdmi (some only get video like the HK 445 which is why I have a 645 on the way to replace my 630) then you also need an audio feed. If it is getting the audio see if turning the volume on the tv down gets rid of the tv sound (it may also turn the hdmi down depending on your model of tv)

Are you saying you have HDMI from your cable box to the receiver, then to your TV? If so, rather then run sound through the TV and then back, run sound from the cable box to the receiver.

HDMI does audio and video, so your receiver should be getting sound from the cable box, but if it isn't, you will have to run a seperate cable (optical or digital coax).

I understand (and am irritated by) the lengthy loading times. I am talking about literally 53 (I counted) seconds from power on to the unit being available to interact with and then another 23 seconds before the empty drawer opens, followed by 1-3 minutes depending on the disk to be able to actually get to a menu.

It has taken three firmware updates in the month I have had it (a simple matter of connecting an rj45 to it and telling it to seek firmware, pretty nifty)

Josh, I'll be speaking to you next year around this time when I go all out and buy all this crap so I can play GT5 in HD. Maybe by then I'll learn what all that crap means and it'll be cheaper.

Very nice! I'm not a huge HDMI fan from an integration standpoint, but for small localized systems, it works great. I'll be running my DVR over HDMI, and my PS2 and DVD player over component. I currently only have a 2-channel HK 3370, with a pair of bookshelf speakers and an M&K sub, but it still sounds awesome. Once I get a new 5.1 receiver that does component switching, I'll be running all of that through it and just have one component cable going from that to the TV.

Because the technology is still in it's infancy, things like loading and processing times are still being developed. That's part of why I haven't bought a hi-def disc player yet.
