    Verizon Problem

Just picked up a new phone, Samsung U740.

And I have no ring tones and I don't want to pay for them. I tried using Myxer and another site to send them, and I sent them like 5 hours ago and haven't got them yet. But I can still receive pics from other phones and I can send pics to my email. Anyone else having this problem?

Why do people stick with Verizon.

Anyway, Try Bitpim over bluetooth, it may work

My computer doesn't have Bluetooth. I stick with VZW cause they are the only one that had service around here. I had AT&T/Cingusuck/ what ever and it blew. A few of my friends have Tmobile and Nextel and have next to no service.

Theres a reason it's the most "Reliable national network"

like he said use bitpim, because to use it as a ringtone it has to be a midi file instead of normal mp3, so just get bitpim, and use the cable from the kit, or just put it on your micro sd card. But you have to convert them to midi to use as a ringtone...

I don't have any sort of kit and it seems I need bluetooth to use Bitpim. Alls I have is the charger and multiadapter that came with it. Nothing to plug into computer.

And if my network was ran similar to how Hitler worked with the Nazi's, I'm sure it would also, "work"

Buy a USB Bluetooth adapter for next to nothing (usually around 20 bucks). Other then that you need a USB Cable for the phone to perhaps interface with it..but Bitpim is going to be the only real chance you have.

You can force the MP3 ringtone onto the phone (my parents are also suckers on Verizon), and it took me quite a bit of fiddling to get his ringtone (Formula1 flyby on a straightaway) onto his VX8600 LG.

The best combo I found (that didn't crash the Qualcom/Verizon POS OS that the phones run), was 128bit MP3, Mono, anything else would really piss the phone off, and I had to reset it several times to really get it installed.

Also be careful, Bitpim writes directly onto the phones OS, and you can destroy how the phone functions if you do something wrong...

Verizon BUILT the VCast OS to PREVENT users from doing this, they want you go pay for everything, so the only way is to trick the device into working properly.

i actually really like verizon. I had a two-month period where my bill was outrageous aka over 250 a month, but they took care of me and now my unlimited plan is only like 80 a month. and I dont have a house phone and talk nationwide all the time. I've had Cingular and hate them with a passion. I'll stick with Verizon!

And do what the others above me have said. I just paid for the ring tones as it was easy and not that expensive. I only get one ringtone every two months or so..

eBay has the USB data cable for 2 bucks with 5 shipping. I think I shall buy that.

My main issue with Verizon is removing the OS that the phones manufacturer installs, install a dubbed down VCast OS that charges you for EVERYTHING (bluetooth sync is awesome with any PC/MAC, Verizon blocks it), and charge you retail full markup.

If the phone was free, fine charge me for features, but being nickled and dimed every time I want add a ringtone or a background is crazy. Sprint is similar, but not nearly as bad, and they usually leave the default OS (albeit modified) alone.

                        Its all principle

The biggest complaint I have with verizon is their phones will not let me sync it to my navigation device to get the traffic reports and local weather according to where I am. It does allow me to sync with it for a handsfree bluetooth device but will not let me do text messaging through the navigation device as well. Which the navigation device is capable of doing and even would read incoming text messages if verizon would not have locked out this features.

I still say in my area that verizon service area is far superior than any other provider in my area, which is the biggest reason I stay with them as I travel all the time in areas where other providers wish they had service available.

i would say the first thing i would do is get the micro sd card..then all you need is a reader, and it will be pretty good. is your phones usb hookup usb 2.0, because i know my lg vx8600's is only 1.0, but if you have the card or the cable then bitpim will work just fine...been using it with my phone for about 7 months now...and it is great
