I got all 4 removed at once a while back. It always seems hard to want to go in and get surgery, but especially if they hurt, get it done. I don't remember what was wrong with mine, I think there just wasn't enough room in my jaw for them or something. Anyway, I got a poke in the gum with a needle I think and was told to count back from 10 or something and could have sworn I counted all teh way down but I was out and probably didn't. I couldn't remember most of what happened right after I woke up either and was kinda dumpy for the rest of the day. I don't remember even what kind of pain killer I got, but I think I had some vicoden. It's not bad at all, you won't feel a damn thing, and the worst thing throughout the whole process is filling the syringe I got with the curved tip on it with warm water and flushing out the cavity where the teeth were under the gum that was folded over and presumably stitched. Sounds kinda nasty but it didn't hurt, just felt REALLY weird for a few days.

The holes are so gross. Getting food stuck in them was pretty much the grossest thing ever. Kinda troublesome to eat, and there was some discomfort while sleeping.

if they are to the point where they hurt they are fucking up your jaw structure and tooth alignment. over time it will effect your bite. its a fairly painless operation but everyone reacts differently to recovery. i was a wuss and i was in a lot of pain but i cant take pain killers either. others go back to work later in the day. just depends on your pain threshold and how bad they are impacted. get it done

It's a no brainer really, if they hurt that much. Good call on making the appointment.

I had two of the four removed, they were impacted but half way out. No surgery, dentist just pulled them out.

I had them removed for free by going to NIH nearby and having them test different painkillers. They remove the top two and give you one of three painkillers, and they ask you to measure your pain.

I must have gotten the placebo.

After that they remove your bottom teeth with no studies and give you LOTS of Tylenol 3. Good times.

+1 to everyone talking about the holes and the syringe and food. When I had mine done I had all 4 done and they had to cut into my gums for all of them. I got oxycodone. :)

I had all 4 of mine pulled. I went under in like 2 secs woke up groggy. Popped some vicodin they gave me and was out drinking that night. It just sucks like others have said to eat for a while. You have to rinse (at least I did) with saltwater everytime becasue I didnt feel like getting dry socket.
                        Keep on Keepin' on.

Oh yeah I remember that, make sure you get that syringe tool to get food out of there. I got a popcorn kernel piece in there and it was painful for 3 days since I couldn't get it out.

I had all 4 of mine removed when I was 16, they were impacted and never came above the gum line. It hurt like crazy, but I can't take pain medication without throwing up, so I decided no pain medicine was better than stomach acid on open surgical wounds.

                                Update:

Went to the dentist. He gave me a week of penicillin and no pain medicin, im pissed. I also got referred to the oral surgeon, at which point i expect to get them pulled.

I wonder if I can ask the surgeon to keep my teeth so i can see what they really look like.
