Yeah, and they probably failed many times, possibly living on friend's couches and kept trying to get to where they are. Some people don't want that instability or risk, or just not that lucky.

And your argument is really weak. Just because you see 3 successful people without college degrees doesn't mean shit. The guy who is the janitor at your school doesn't have a college degree either. Neither do the tens of thousands hourly workers who work under those with degrees around you. Those 3 people are called outliers, and are not statistically significant.

My argument never has been and never will be that the majority of people without degrees are successful. WTF is wrong with you guys?

And for the record, my post wasn't nearly as harsh as Lance's. So bother him for a few pages. I am worried my post count will get too high having to defend myself. I have to keep it at my current average of 1/month, haha.
Thanks for doing us that favor;)
So you won't be posting for the next three months then? SWEET
I try not to delve into the twisted mind that is Lance's. He tends to be pretty warped. And he cannot be reasoned with, kinda like the Predator but in a more retarted way.

According to these guys I am a huge fan of dropping out.

I'm in college getting my degree.

There - I proved myself wrong.

You just won't admit defeat or that you are an idiot. Not once have you been right.

When you present an "argument" that includes mentioning in a paragraph that you know 3 successful people without degrees, one of which has a Ferrari, it's a weak "argument" and completely worthless. If you had any intelligence, you wouldn't mention outliers in such a discussion.

Everyone knows that it is possible to be successful w/o a degree, but using rare exceptions to argue against that the vast majority of degreed individuals are more successful than non-degreed ones is MORONIC!

Yeah, you might see jet engines and end up dealing with pricing for Carrier A/Cs. No thanks, I tried to bomb a phone interview with UTC operations, and made it past but then decided to stop pursuing them... so good luck in finding the right match.

Not once have I been right - yet you agree with me? They are not THAT rare of exceptions. Based off of my experience, the majority of wealthy small business owners do not have degrees. All I've ever argued is that it is possible to be successful - a degree is not required. note that I have never stated any kind of percentage or ratio - just that with some hard work you can overcome not having a degree.

however - it looks like you do indeed agree with me - so problem solved!

way to contradict yourself in the same paragraph numb nuts. for every "success" you see without a degree, 100s more are sweeping up trash at the Cinema or asking if you want fries with that.

Where is the contradiction - and how does that prove that I'm a moron?

I really hate to go there - but how old are you and what do you do for a living?

EDIT - I pretended that I was a retard for a moment and re-read my paragraph. I imagine that the way you are reading it is this:

"The majority of small business owners that I know do not have a degree and are wealthy"

                          VS

"I have never stated any kind of percentage or ratio"

That is not a contradiction - but my experience regarding small business owners that I know - not persons without a degree as a whole. So uhh....no.

I cant believe this argument is still going on.

Degrees are a good thing. Period
Degrees are not for everyone. Period
A degree is not required to be successful. Period

                            Argument over.
Hemingway said it best. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.”

You talk about talk about things not being THAT RARE, and then claim to never had made a statement about ratio. That may not be a number, but is a claim that a normal person's perception of success rate of an uneducated person is undervalued, based on your perception. You may not be living up to a number, but even as you claim not to be making a statement, you indeed are.

And when you talk about the successful small business owners you know, with the 'majority' without a degree, that does not say much. It should be obvious for anyone who has any understanding of statistics, is you have selection bias. The people you are looking at, and for most part would come into contact with or know to be small business owners, are successful. You don't generally know that the person serving you Starbucks was a failure at operating a small business, or the guy who is a VP at a major software firm was an acquisition following his small firm success and business degree.

People like me and Charlie give you shit because your arguments are weak and simply-put, dumb.

What do I do? I study econometric regression analysis, as well as other things.

I wish that was the case a long time ago man.

Lance, don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. you never answered how old you were or where you go to school - because I know you don't have a degree.
