Just watched "I am legend". Boring.

It follows the typical Hollywood formula where more time and effort is put into the CG and special effects than the content of the movie. Obviously that seems to be working these days with the popularity of some questionable movies but, for those looking for more story and less explosions it leaves something to be desired. -
I really liked it. Hollywood will always remake movies, not comparing it to another movie it was good. Good not great. The ending was made more storybook and happy from the book from what I hear, but that can be expected.
Go see Juno by the way. Saw it last night and it has many laughs plus it's basically the teen in high school version of knocked up. Very well done.Leave a comment:

when i worked at stuttgart southwest i restored a late 912E (the 4 cyl one). i was there for over a year, since it was done as the customer paid us, so i named it soylent green because it was a nasty light metalic green. we (there was only 4 of us total ) used to drive it and yell "soylent green it made out of people!!"Leave a comment:

can I be the first to say
the "original" (if this movie resembles the Omega Man at all) was not a high point in cinema history. It was cool and all (yay chuck heston), but if you want post-apocalyptic bliss, rent the Quiet EarthLeave a comment:

i love that movie!!!!It was indeed a big deception. I like Will Smith. I liked the original movie. In fact, one spends the whole movie expecting the story to start. The hero is setting up mannequins (dummies) to overcome solitude. He even talks to them as if they were humans, but never his psychose is really played out.
So now. If one day they make a remake of "Soylent Green" I hope they put a good team of screen writers on it...
i've been looking for soylent green on dvd with no luckLeave a comment:

They made a remake of "The Planet of the Apes" (another classic with Mr Charlton "NRA" Heston") and they trashed it. They re-made "Omega Man" and they fucked it up (to my own personal opinon). If they ever touch "Solyent Green", it'd better be good.
"Invasion" (remake of "Invasion of the bodysnatchers") while not deserving an oscar, was okay (despite being destroyed by critics).
"Flight of the Phoenix" - The original was a masterpiece. Remake was...
There's a remake of "The Andromeda Syndrome" coming soon too. I heard that there's also supposed to be a version of "The bridge over the River Kwai".Last edited by Massive Lee; 12-26-2007, 08:37 PM.Leave a comment:

I felt the same way, the ending felt like a major rip off. The movie would have been much better at 3 hours. Anyone notice the blatant Ford placement?Leave a comment:

I agree with that. They showed that same dark walker many times and it seemed as though he set up that trap for Smith's character to walk right into. They definitely could have gotten more in depth showing how they weren't as devolved as he had thought.I must agree. I got a good rip in English from...somewhere...and I kept waiting for them to go into further detail with the mannequins, traps, growing intelligence of the baddies, etc. It seems like the movie was supposed to be 3 hours long and then it was edited to a traditional length. Disappointing, to say the least. They could have done so much more with it.Leave a comment:
