Reds look like ass on my display

I've noticed an issue with the display on my Inspiron 1721 laptop that's bothering me. Most reds, like shiny paint jobs on cars or whatever else, are really blotchy and kind of distorted. I'm not sure how to describe it, other than they just look really muddy, not crisp and clear like other colors. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix this via some kind of color adjustment, or if it's an issue with my display itself.

I have my colors calibrated to the best I can see using ATi Catalyst Control Center, and tried messing with the Adobe gamma loader, but it didn't seem to help, I don't know how to use it that well. Has anyone else ever had this problem, or could someone possibly point me in the right direction to fix it? It kind of kills the image I want to use as my background.

Hmm, I have some sort of image calibration software that came with my samsung monitor. I can let you know what it was when I get home.

My Latitude doesnt have issue with reds but its with the Intel integrated video.
    Im now E30less.

We have one of those Spyder Pro color emitters with the software at our shop, I just don't know how to use it yet. Our tech guy said he'd do my laptop with it, is it something I could do myself?
