    An introduction

Hello, my name is Rich and I'm kinda new here. I signed up a little while ago but have just been lurking. I'm coming over from the VW side, I currently have a 93 Corrado and used to have 83 and 84 Rabbit GTIs and an 85 Golf. The Corrado is currently down because I'm waiting for an insurance company to pay out. At H2O international in Ocean City MD the engine got DESTROYED by a raised manhole cover so I'm going after the construction company's insurance. I've gotten to drive it about 1.5 weeks in the last 6 months due to this and prior to this my friends and I were installing a new quarter panel.

But I'm planing on taking some of the money that I get from them and getting an E30 (hopefully a 325is) for a daily and to take the place of my GTIs as a fun backroad/track/auto-x car. One of my friends recently bought an E46 M3 and as soon as I drove it I was hooked on RWD and started to make it a point to get one. Then a guy at work bought an 86 325e and after looking at that every day I knew that I had to have one. Since I'm an oldschool kind of guy an E30 seemed fitting.

It seems like a cool forum you guys have here (a lot more relaxed than VWVortex) and hopefully soon I'll be showing off an E30!
Here's a link to some pictures of my car if you guys want to take a look: http://flatfourvw.com/photos/vdubjunkie37/

Was there a road liabilty sign posted? If so i doubt you get any money from construction company. Good luck with it thou. Condition of US roads are just plain pitiful.

Was that Dewey beach where it happened?

Welcome man. I had a 93 Corrado, best car I ever owned (shhh). I also had a 90 G60 and I currently have an 84 GTI ex-autocrosser. It's super fun. Nice to have you here, you'll love E30s after working in that tight VR engine bay.

Edit: Just saw my brother posted before me. Haha.

No there was no sign about the road condition. There was something like 12 cars that were damaged because of raised manhole covers that weekend. At least 2 were totaled. I was the second person in a series of 4 cars that hit that same manhole cover within 20 minutes. After I hit it, 2 of my friends and I almost got locked up for yelling at the cops about how there needed to be a sign. As we were doing this the other 2 cars hit the manhole cover. Then it took another 4-5 hours to get the sign up.

Then the following weekend was the street rod show where a guy that I work with saw 2 cars that were valued at least at $100k damage their cars. The weekend after that was the Corvette weekend and I know of at least 1 car that got totaled there, a brand new C6 Vette. So I guess this construction company was really on the ball. I know that the insurance company has paid to fix other cars that were involved. They're just making me wait for forever.

And this was at Ocean City, I think south of Dewey.

I can't take credit for the hood latch, that was a guy that I work withs idea. The big white spot on the hood is from us using the torch to straighten the hood enough to get one side to latch.

I would be after the town as well, it's their job to monitor their contractors. Glad to see they are paying for damages that were incurred.

I on the other hand had to sue in small claims court a landscaper that did my sub division's work when the ran a skid steer in reverse into my car to the tune of 2800 of damage and an Illegal was operating it. The hid the evidence. I got payed thou, found the skid steer three steets over with same color paint from mine on their piece of equipment.

                    Judge was harder on them.

From what I've been told by the state I can't go after them or the city because thats why the contractors have insurance. I also talked to my friend that helps run a landscaping company and he also said that was true.
