Don't go to a tech school. Suck it up study hard and go to a real school and get a real job.

ME is a good way to go. Look in to your local chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers too for some good experience and resume padding

Masuk, Im in community college as a Industrial Engineer. I go to Manchester Community College right now, but theres Comm. College's all over our great state, and almost all of them offer a great 2 year engineer program with your choice of Mechanical, Industrial, or some even Electrical. The great thing about CT Comm. College's is that they offer pathway programs to UConn and Central and Southern and what not, so if you get a two year degree at MCC or another CC, all your credits will transfer directly to a 4 year CT university.

Id go the Community College route man... Ive been at MCC for a year and a half now, Im 20 years old, and Im a Design/Applications Engineer at BNL Industries in Vernon because of it. Tech school is cool and all, but all of my friends that went to tech school, have gotten out and are making minimum wage in their tech school positions. Tech school is pricey, and for the same price or less, you can at LEAST get two years and an Associates Degree in engineering at a CT Community College. When it comes to a field like Engineering, a degree really WILL make the difference between getting hired or not. I got hired simply because I was working TOWARDS a degree...

Where in CT are you anyways?

hey fyi: Wentworth is a 4 year *college* that awards BA/BS degrees... not like, a trade school...

I think he sorta meant 'tech' in the same way as like, 'Caltech' or 'MIT' etc.

(not comparing Wentworth to Caltech or MIT, but you get the idea)

good to know, didnt realize that. If thats the case, that looks like a good choice if you're persuing Engineering. I still stand on my love for CT community colleges though.

Ya Wentworth is a 4 year degree school.
Basically I am wondering if any one you guys know go there or you your self have had experience with it?
From what I hear/read its a legit school and offers a great program-my neighbor is the CT project leader of Turner Construction, makes UNREAL cash and has a degree in Construction Management.

sorry, my post came out weird...

                    - Majikal: great suggestion about 2-year and community colleges (+ working towards a 4-yr degree)

                    - wentworth is a good school, to the OP rock it out...

boston has a ton of good schools, including northeastern right across the street, so you might want to poke around...

Wentworth is a REALLY nice place, I Checked it out a couple weeks ago. I'd go there but I don't have any interest in the majors offered.

Don't go to Wentworth. Sorry I have only heard from 2 people they are happy there I know 8 people that go, the rest don't like it, the people there are just not what you would expect. But if you are dead set on Boston then i guess, but there are better schools. AKA where I am, RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) their ME program has many concentrations from aeronautical to automotive and everything in between. but not only that they also have anything else you could possibly be interested in besides football. We consistently place well in both Mini Baja, and formula SAE. the only real draw back is a huge student body the last i checked 17,000ish undergrads. also the guy girl ratio kind of blows but as long as you are not a freak of nature you should be fine.

Plus we have the second highest rated CO-OP program #1 is northeastern but the kids here get employed from a range companies such as Boeing to GE to GM and Ford.

Best of all Rochester has the 3rd highest Gonorrhea rate in the country.
EDIT: apparently we have fallen to #4.

However the actual university is in a rural town right next to Rochester.

If you want to go to a tech school for automotive make sure that the school follows NATEF standards.

I went to a tech school and have been working in the field about 3 years now for large and medium sized outfits of super professional people made up of financial advisors and accountants etc.. .

I can honestly say, its not so much where you went to school, but how you interview and carry yourself into the job. Experience is everything, and once you're in, you're in. Most all accredited tech school offer a 4 year educational plan. I recommend that, cuz you'll end up hitting a price ceiling with a 2 year farely quickly unless you have bookoo experience to boot.

My .02's... Just go to school. Doesnt matter what for.

Also, one thing tech schools offer that most universities don't is hands on training, applied sciences in your case. That means a lot on a resume.
