Anyone order body parts from parts train before?

My buddy rear ended a guy in his accord and I am fixing up the car for him. Amazingly barely anything on the frame is bent. Just the top rad support is the only thing, and I am going to weld a new one on.

Anyways, somehow the cheapest way to fix his car is to get all new parts from partstrain.com I need a hood, bumper assembly, headlights, and all the mounts, absorbers, etc...

Grand total ended up to be $491 shipped for all that stuff.

Has anyone got any body parts from them parts before? The prices are damn dirt cheap. Just wondering if they are made out of pixie sticks and glue or something.

IIRC, most of the partstrain inventory is CAPA certified. This means they are not OEM, but are certified to be of a certain level of quality in terms of fitment and construction. However, make sure all of your parts are CAPA certified before you order. Obviously its best to go OEM, but if you're on a budget this should work.

Yeah I saw some were CAPA and some were not. The ones that weren't were like 1/2 the price.

The main goal is just to get the car back on the road. I don't think its ever going to get painted. Chances are its just gonna get crashed again.

How bad are the non CAPA parts? I mean if a panel is gapped 5mm on one side and 10mm on the other, thats not too bad. I don't think anyone will even notice. Not like this is a show car or even that nice of a car, its just a stupid accord.

They're probably the same Made in Taiwan stuff that's been around for years. Lots of places like Certifit, etc sell the stuff, and it's really gotten ALOT better over the years in terms of fit and finish. Used to be that the body creases would be completely off, and the parts would not even begin to line up correctly- most of the stuff is *almost* like OEM now- certainly just right for a beater.

Look in the local yellow pages and see if theres any place that sells "Wholesale" auto body parts- you might be able to find the stuff locally and save on shipping....

Ok sounds good. I guess if I was building my m3 or something I wouldn't trust those parts, but from what you said I think just for a DD accord it will be fine. Its not a show stopper or anything lol, 97 with 200k on the clock ;)

I got a non CAPA hood for a late model S-10 without hinge brackets welded to it. Just about useless w/o a lot of work
