With this kind of luck, who needs bad luck..

Ortho Dr walks in today and says, "well consider yourself lucky, you didn't tear one meniscus you tore both". I proceed to make light and ask, "lucky? are you guys running a two for one special this month or what?' Anyone had this procedure done? Any good drugs too be prescribed.

Torn meniscus is not a really big deal. You will likely just have a scope, so it won't be very invasive at all. I had a piece of my femur break off right under the knee cap in my right knee. The trainer for my rugby team said it was not going to damage it to finish the tournament on it, so I did. Well, among other things the floating bone pieces destroyed my meniscus and all surrounding everything.

Hopefully yours are just a bit frayed. If so, and you have arthroscopic instead of large incisions, then my understanding is that you will be able to walk on it in roughly 5-7 days. Mine took 90 days.

my dad just had his repaired after a pretty nasty tear. He was able to get around (barely) after a week or so, but it took quite a few weeks before he was back to semi-normal. You're probably much younger so the heal time might be better.

My gf was born w/ her meniscus being one solid piece, I don't understand the details of it all, I'll ask her tomorrow, but 2 years ago the pain was getting to bad from them not doing their job like their supposed to since their deformed she had surgery on one of the knee's. Since then its torn once so they had to operate again and the other one still hurts like a bitch since they couldn't do both knees. Atleast its not that bad...

Never understood the "I'm in pain so now I get some good meds" thing. I guess it works for those with a puritanical temperament who feel the need to pay for their pleasure. Just go get some dope.
