1989 BMW 325ix AWD rare collector car
Hi, I have a rare 1989 BMW 325ix. This is a special all wheel drive version of the 325i 4D sedan, specially designed for racing and snow use. I believe there were only 500 of these ever imported into the US. This car was intoduced to help BMW compete with the amazing Audi Quattro handling characteristics, and believe it or not, it will out handle many a modern car.
It needs some work, but it is an amazing car when running right. I loaded some pics now, and below is a more detailed description. I don't have the money to keep this car anymore due to job changes.
Who should buy a car like this ?
- You know and love BMWs, and always wanted an IX, regardless
- You want an IX that you can do fix up so you can blow away everyone else on a race track.
General Specs
year - 1989
car - 325 IX AWD (quite a rare car as far as I know)
color - white
seats - heated
tires - Pirelli P6000s- only 10 K since tire change (more info coming)
miles - approx 180K
General Status
- I bought this car used, did quite a bit of fix up of it, esp. suspension, and used it to teach 2 teens to drive. I still have my 525 (not for sale) and have replaced this car for commuting with another.
Interior Condition - Tan leather seating is still in good shape.
Exterior Paint / Body - still in reasonably good condition. The paint is still original white so if you are making it a show car, it will need repainting. It is fine for general use.
- master air flow sensor has failed per bmw mechanic
- Crank position sensor erro
- brakes - recently put new pads on
- transmission - still original automatic. Seems to work ok
- battery - needed
- alternator - almost new
- AC / heat - works
- Car is currently not running (will crank over if I put a battery in it, but will not start due to flow sensor / crank anble sensor comment above).
Car will be sold as is

Items considered for trade (in addition to at least $ 1000 cash)
a) Computer New desktop computer brand HP, dell, or MAJOR brand name. Will not consider Toshiba, NEC, Sony, or other non brand name computer. Will consider a used working desktop (brand name) with at least 2 ghz AMD Athlon or Pentium 4 or better. Celeron = no thanks. Xeon is also ok. Will also consider a similarly equipped rack mount computer. (preferred) Used computer - will consider a trade value of $200 unless it is exceptional. New and modern computer - will consider a trade value of $400 unless it is exceptional Software - I will load my own, so it has no value to me
b) Tools Tools I could use - endmills in nearly new condition, precision measuring tools (especially for squaring up items), Precision / high quality drill bits, taps, especially metric. I an not really interested in "used, worn out" end mills. Sharp, high quality router bits with special shapes are interesting if they are whiteside of other US brand name.
d) Machining - I need some cnc machining done for a project I am working on. If you want to do some cnc machining for me as a partial trade, that is ok as well.
