    Best Antivirus Software?

My subscription renewal is almost here for McAfee. I have been happy with McAfee for the past 4 years, just seeing if there were any better programs out there. Not interested in the free stuff, I am more than willing to pay to keep my laptop running smoothly. I use it for school and can't afford to have something happen.

Grisof makes AVG. They have AVGFree which is JUST a virus scanner and uses very little memory. Did I mention its totally free?

Use that + common sense and you wont have to turn gay so you can own a Mac.

I might suggest going to microsoft.com and search for "Windows Defender." Its a free, built-in spyware blocker from microsoft.

I use them as a backup plan, I havent had a virus in 4 years (at least, cant really recall my last one).
      Im now E30less.

Avast is also really good, and the home edition is free. They also have bigger, meaner, pay-for versions if that's you thing.

Trend Micro is great, you can also use housecall right on their website if you don't need all the time protection and just want to perform regular scans. Avast is also great if you have a U3 USB Drive.
                tasty

ThreatFire "ThreatFire continually protects your PC against attacks by detecting malicious behavior, such as capturing your keystrokes or stealing your data, instead of only looking for known threats like normal antivirus software. By implementing sophisticated real-time behavioral analysis ThreatFire is able to stop never- before-seen "zero-day" threats solely by detecting their malicious activity."

                    AVG Free

                    Windows Defender

Run those three, and if you can still manage to get yourself a virus then you probably deserve it.

I've been running AVG Free for a while now and like it. I wasn't running anything for a bit, but decided not to temp fate.

AVG is currently using 252k of my computer's memory. Can you say, NONE?

I have AVG Professional (got it at a fraction of retail from a friend with a computer shop), and my wife's new laptop has it, also. I LOVE it. It uses very little system resources, constantly updates itself without being irritating, runs super fast scans, and is a great all-in-one protection system.

I love all the misinformed Apple hate.

But on my PC, I also use AVG Free, and it works pretty damn well (but I also own an Apple or two, so I probably don't know what's going on).
