    Ebay/Paypal issue

The strangest thing happened to me today.

I received an email confirming that someone paid for an ebay item.

*I have been paid for this item, the money is in my account!*

The item is a Movado watch.

Here's the catch, I never listed this item, nor is it posted under my username!

I've emailed paypal just now about this...

Has this happened to anyone before?

I can't even imagine how this person paid me for this item.

Sounds like one of those " OFFICIAL " looking emails that are phished out there to gain access to your paypal/ebay accounts...

Do not send the money back yet. Let Ebay and paypal handle it. I agree with the atomic guy, it's prolly a scam.

take 2 seconds and call your bank...just give them notice that you might have an "issue" and ask that they make note of it on your account - my sis was wiped clean by identity theft.

Maybe you should notify eBay and Paypal. They probably already know that scam. Don't reply to the one who sent you money, it would confirm your email address and account. Just let it sit there. If the scam doen't work for the scammer, he will pull the money back in a few weeks himself.

              Thanks for your help guys!

I've contacted paypal with the issue already. I'm going to give them a call shortly.

I noticed something funny about this whole thing. I let a friend of mine take over my old ebay account back in May 07. I realized that this was my old account because I checked the earlier transactions made.

So here's what bugging me...how did this person send money to me, when I am no longer associated with the old ebay account??

Regardless I'm going find out whats going on here.

Same thing happened to me last year through EBAY/PAYPAL to the tune of $6k taking from my bank account before my bank could get the account shut down. When they called me it was at $1500 and in a matter of 5 minutes, while on the phone with them it had jumped to the $6k before getting it shut down. HUGE MESS but I did get my money back but I had to close that account.

Every since I have a bank acount only for EBAY/PAYPAL use and it is kept at a minimum. I only transfer money in from my main accounts to that account when needed.

                Good luck
