I was just calculating a rate for a client who supplied me with a Zip code. I Googled the digits and that told me the customer was in Texas. Then, the second or third result of my Googling was a link to a list of sex-offenders as well as their "indictment". Sollicitation, rape, possession of child pornography, etc.
So, as much as I am totally against any form of sexual offense, it let me wondering if posting their name, address and offense is really a benefit to the population, and not some form of public lynching. If the offenders are that dangerous in the public, then why are they released, and not still in an institution in the process of a rehabilitation or cure of any form? Isn't a convicted rapist left free, a time bomb in the society? Or is the juridiciary system only interested in the punishment (jail sentence) and not the rehabilitation? Which also raises the question of if people recognized guilty are in prison as a punishement, or are locked way not to harm society? Is anything done so that they don't becone repeat offenders?
