I was a previous mk3 guy. had a haggard '87 turbo and a nice '88 turbo. I fell in love with them, despite their heavy weight and technical problems (headgaskets!!!!). One day, when I can afford to, I'd like to get back into one, hopefully the same color as the '88 I had... drool.
I would say find the cleanest example you can, with the most records, and have a small bankroll on hand for "maintenance"... which can get costly. The parts aren't any more expensive than what we're used to with e30s, for the most part, but the car seems to need frequent attention. Kept properly they're lots of fun.
here's my old 88
edit: backtrail, it's a 7mgte in the turbos - and they're actually pretty well-engineered engines... just for the poor headgasket and valve cover gasket design.Jay

You should talk to blacke30. His brother owns a complete 1jz TT supra, completely jdm...i hate using those words i sound like a fool..but it really is a sick car. Just converted over to a single turbo and puts down nearly 350hp. Ill try to find a pic

my brother has a very nice mk3 supra, soon to be a large single 1j. The 7m is a great engine once you figure out the HG issue, just don't slap a T78 on to it and set the boost at 1bar, hehehe, rebuilt engine my ass. It was fun while it lasted. There are some nice mk3's out there though, I wouldnt mind picking one up.
