I am pointing out this single episode... Combined, we have somewhat painted a financial picture no one seems to comprehend; hence this shit is still in order....

the war on terror did not have nukes in the inventory. We were fighting a true 3rd world country. Our tactics did not work because we were not wanting to fight a ground war. But in the end that is what it is taking to win.

A country with little regard to their own people (China) I feel would have no problem fighting a war with ICBMs. Its truly hard to be able to fight a war that is half way around the world. Man only knows one thing and that is how to destroy. We were the 1st to use Atomic weapons which propelled us to a super power so whats to say someone else will not. The reason we have so many is to be able to say that one could end the world 100x over. That is a huge deterrent. To have a shied will be able to take out many but it only takes a few to hit the right places to end things as we know it.

So yeah I feel the budget for them is necessary to protect what we have establish. And for one to think that another will never use one is foolish. Iran is on its way in developing Nuke grade uranium. They have no problems in selling that to the highest bidder to rid Israel or western states that do not see things their way. Russia is already selling their technology to the highest bidder because they are so poor. The world is a one match away from a huge 4th of July. It will only be a matter of time!!!

It's a crock of shit - there was stuff on there we didn't want anyone else to see. Do I personally have a problem with that? No. China shot down a sattelite in Jan. 2007 and denied doing so for weeks. Now, China and Russia want an "anti-sattelite missile ban". Go figure...

The only reason the satellite was shot down was because our government did not want any more of US technology falling into the hands of foreign powers ie. Russia and China. Sure they might of shown the their muscles alil. China finally got to space because Bill Clinton sold China rocket technology trying to improve relations, apparently that didnt work....

I betcha the water where the remaining pieces are going to fall is under observation by the Russians and Chinese.

I wonder where that missile was designed and built. I'm waiting to see if I get accepted for an internship at boeing working with Integrated Defense Systems.

So you guys that know what you're talking about: Where are these missiles made? Do you know where I can read about them?

Remember China has already done this as well, to flex their muscles. Most likely we didn't want some other country be able to look at parts that landed in their yard.

Reverse engineering works very well. The Russians updated alot of tech stuff to their SA missiles when Yugoslavia knocked down a F-117A a few years back.

                  Arms business is huge.

"Chunks of debris weighing two tons or more from satellites and rocket parts fall uncontrolled every three weeks or so, according to an analysis by a Harvard University astronomer who tracks satellites and space debris."

That's pretty crazy... 2 ton pieces of trash and junk falling down to earth uncontrolled every three weeks or so? WTF?

Raytheon is the prime contractor on the SM3.

Parts of the missile are subcontracted out. You can find out lots of cool info on defense systems at http://www.fas.org/

Its the size of a school bus and weighing in at just over 5k lbs. Even when the space shuttle came in burning up, a debris field was strewn all over the place. The likely hood of this hitting the US, Mexico was pretty high. With everyone so critical with the government, they had to act instead of react if it would have hit. With out certain of where it would hit they took the roll to act. This rocket used was from old stock retrofitted with a new guidance head. It was a heat seeking 3 stage ballistics missile.

The flack started when China a few months ago fired one of their new style missiles to take out a working satellite. This showed how advanced the Chinese has gotten with missile technology. Now they are saying that we had planned this from the beginning. I want to say our debunked satellite was launched back in 1996 without looking it up. That a lot of pre-planning if that is what it was.

Remember, as long as the world keeps reproducing at alarming numbers, countries will always have to look at others to keep resources available to their own nation. Thats why there will never be peace and such arms races are just that. Everyone wants to be the greatest and America has held that for a long time. Many nations would love to see us fall, but other nations need us to sustain their quality of life. With the Economy the way it is, the housing market and overspending, we are losing that hold on the world market. Soon we will fall like Rome, from within!
History would say we are beyond out time of "dominance". Technology has kind of held us up. I don't know if it is soon but eventually it will happen.
