    Flu remedies

So I've apparently come down with the flu, and am stuck in bed (quite miserably, I might add). Anyone got any great remedies for the symptoms? I've got a sore throat, cough, headache, and my body feels like I got mauled by a bear last night.

Currently I'm just taking vitamins, drinking a lot of water and juice and resting, but if anyone knows any OTC stuff that works really well (Theraflu type stuff) for the love of GOD let me know.

    Thanks.

-You're welcome matt, there's a 75% chance you got the flu from me. I'm within a day of recovering... I've been drinking lots of water/juice, taking Ibuprofen, and a little bit of hot rum (hot tea + rum + honey). OTC stuff I don't know, I have a prescrition for some kind of cough syrup laced with codine (called tussionex), takes the edge off the sore chest/muscles.

-Sorry about the sickness dude :( it sucks I know

SpecM's idea of the Ibuprofen works for me.
And do 2000mg of vitamin C every hour along with the other things you're already doing.

                  Drink a bunch of these

They have like 500% of your daily vitamin C and 100% of Vitamin A
You'll crap your brains out but you'll feel better quicker.

Dude, if you really have the flu, get to a doctor and ask them for an RX for Tamiflu.

It has to be started within 48 hours of first symptoms to be most effective, but it really works. It doesn't get rid of the flu right away, but it lessens the severity of the illness and shortens it too.

Seriously, you can suffer through it without any RX's, but it will be at least a week before you begin to feel halfway normal (insert joke here).....

                    Bret.

take 500 mg Vitamin C's, drink a LOAD of gatorade/water, sleep, and maybe throw down a multivitamin etc. if you're drinking a lot of fluid (4-6 liters) then you're depleting things you need to fight off the disease... so make sure you're have some gatorade. this works for - and lots of Afrin for nasal comfort.

For a really good sore throat remedy, gargle warm water mixed with cayenne pepper. I'm dead serious, it works better than anything I've tried.
