If you can't believe how far we have come up to this point, then don't even bother thinking ahead, it will blow your mind. Quantum computers, nano technology, commercial space flight, moon base, technological singularity, etc. I have heard estimates of AI in 40-50 years. That may seem like a while but it is relatively nothing.

Too funny, I was at LAX the other day. Me an a 50 year old businessman struck up a conservation waiting at the gate. We talked shop for a bit, that of course turned to tech. We both said the same thing - "what will it be like in 50 years" - I mentioned that I was jealous of kids being born today. Something to the effect that they will never have to know the pain of waiting for anything - a phone call, mail, TV show, ect. He laughed out loud. (Then he reminded me that all of life is a wait. He when on to explain - Waiting till you turn 21, waiting till you meet the right girl, waiting to get a raise, to move, to get somewhere, to change...)
