So I'm listening to Pandora, and I really want to tweak the EQ a bit. Is these software that will let me tweak the sound before it hits my soundcard? The more control the better - wouldn't even mind a compressor/limiter for movies and what not.

AFAIK all Soundcard Manufacturers (including the onboard chipset versions) include an equalizer app in their driver set (So far I only know Terratec (XFire1024), creativelabs (OldSBCards, 512 and LiveValue) and the SiS AC'97 onboard variants - only problem I can see is if for instance the manufactur support isn't extented to the OS in use and its down to basic driver set or windows native drivers) - So more information about your system would be usefull ( &take a look under audio-properties and the used mixer-device that is set as default).tasty

System is:
XP pro SP2
core two duo (3.4 GHz)
SB Live! 24 bit
4 gigs ram
Nvidia Quatro FX 1400
My editing application(Avid) does not play well with my SB live card "software" that ships with it. (Crappy card I know - it one of the few that is supported with my software)
I'll try Graphic Equalizer Pro (I remember using that years ago)
I'd love a whole rack of "virtual" audio processors!
