My fucking PC killed my 160gig Pod twice in one week. Never a problem on my macs though.

I think my problem was running the same iPod over 2 differing OS.

My only gripe with iTunes 7.6.0.29 is that it runs the following generally useless (to me at least) processes whenever it runs:

      AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe
      distnoted.exe
      ipodservice.exe

Only three processes, sure, but I have found that they slow my notebook down quite a bit. I doubt deleting the processes will help anything either, it would probably make iTunes not work. Besides that though, I have little fuss with it.

I have a feeling this is what killed mine as well...constantly bringing it back and forth between home/work/school...it couldn't take it anymore.

But hey, I've had the thing for 4 years and it has been pretty good to me...

I'm going to be placing an order for the new Zune soon...I've read several reviews and the general consensus is that its a pretty good iPod replacement!

Yea these programs eat up memory space, but if you close them you have to reboot to get itunes to work right.

I've heard good things about media monkey and foobar2000 as itunes alternatives and both work with an ipod, I might be switching soon itunes is just too slow for me.

I own 3 iPods (3rd gen, shuffle, and touch), a MacBook, and had a Powerbook. Never had problems with any of them. Itunes has always worked great with all of it. Apple FTW. I will never own a PC again.

Your problem isn't Itunes, its your PC.

I knew Itunes sucked the second I tried to go to their stupid website, and they wanted me to install their bullshit program. NO!

                        Ordering a Zune soon.

I want to actually go to the store first and "test drive" it.

I'm waiting for the wi-fi browser fimware for the 80 gb Zune I keep hearing about. Then I will really like it.
