    Grand National Owners

So with the 318's less than powerful engine, and the rising gas prices Ive decided to get another vehicle to make up for the lack of power. Ive had a 87 SS monte carlo with a built 383 and i really love the body style, but the weight and the fact that they never came with a 350 stock and not wanting to have to deal with someones failed swap(yea i know 3xx swaps are rediculously easy but i dont trust anyone these days) ive decided on a grand national. I know a pretty good amount about them but yet again ive never owned one. Just curious if anyone had any experience with them and suggestions about it, ive got a line on a excellent one for a great price but im not about to drive 700 miles to just test drive it. Thanks guys

I had a "Hot Air" Grand National. But Teager would be the one to give good info about this subject.

I know the master cylinder is an expensive nightmare to deal with.

I know I always wanted one.

Hope you find a gem, man, those are some amazing cars.

I can chime in here, I own a '91 318is and an '87 Grand National. GNs are absolutely great cars and extremely reliable. I daily drove mine and took it on many road trips without fear. They're not too bad on gas unless you put your foot to the floor (which is a very hard thing NOT to do).

There are a few cheap and essential mods that almost everyone does to slightly improve performance and reliability. A quick search on turbobuicks or turbobuick will tell you what.

I love mine, but I am reluctantly going to have to sell it when I go home from school this semester...it's just not practical right now.

Like any car, stay away from hack-jobs...there are many tastefully modded GNs and an equal amount of beat to hell drag cars. Prices on stock cars have been raising every year as I'm sure many of you know by watching Barret Jackson.

        '87 535i - Vacuum brake conversion [SOLD]
        '93 525iT - 5-speed swap - 320k and counting
        '09 328xi - 6-speed
