Comp question: every new page dead?

Got a question for some of the tech heads around here. I've been having a problem lately, and I think it's isolated to Firefox. Whenever I click on a link for anything, be it a thread, image link, video link, site, whatever, I'd say about 75% of the time or more, I get a "server not found" error:

    Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.mundocarrinhos.com.br.

    * Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

It also does this with my homepage (google) when I start FF, or when I click my tab to go to R3V, or any other site. When I click the link or whatever the navigation item is, it reloads just fine. It started off doing it kind of sporatically, and now it's just about every other page I try to load. Anyone know what's going on?

Yup. It doesn't do it all the time, and I don't think there's a pattern to it. But it's annoying as hell.

        Flush your DNS?

Close your browser, open up Run and type "ipconfig /flushdns"

Just did it, we'll see if it helped.

I would point to a DNS problem as well. If you're having problems, open a new page and go to:

That's the IP for www.google.com, if you can get to it successfully, you have a DNS issue.

I just discovered I'm having this same issue starting this morning only.

flushed my DNS already, didn't fix it.

                Get a mac?

Jk does it do that with IE also or only FF? Did you try just uninstalling and reinstalling? Try simple stuff before making it really complicated.

If its isolated to only Firefox, DNS isnt the issue or you'd have problems in IE as well.

IE by default is auto detecting proxy settings. Firefox, isnt. Im Firefox, you may want to go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Settings>and change to Auto Detect instead of "Direct Connect to the Internet".
From there it should auto detect where the packet needs to bounce to first to find the appropriate nameserver.

Or you could just uninstall/reinstall firefox to get default settings back and a fresh start.
                    Report back.

Try clearing out all the temp files you can before you reinstall FF too. There are free tools all over the place that do it (CCleaner is one that comes to mind, Windows has one too). Also make sure that any Mozilla folders under "c:\program files" are gone and anything in your local profile that has to do with Firefox is gone. That should make sure that any configs that you have now are gone and you are getting a fresh install.

No issues since flushing the DNS, at least not yet. I've only been home for an hour, but it would have done it to me by now.
