Carpenters or laborers???? I am a card carrying Laborer Vegas has one of the highest pay scales in the country.

Or are you working for a union outfit as temp help so they get around having you sign up an pay you full scale???????
    Carpenters, Local 897.
Yeah its $17+ all the other stuff.
I am starting on the bottom. 4 years of apprenticeship. Then I can become a journeyman I think.
When you become a journeyman, he said you can be making up to $45 an hour after everything.

Overtime is time and a half, holidays is double time, then labor day is triple time.

good for you stick with it an you will make a good living at it, You may have to travel at some point and follow the work but its worth it. It good honest work that you can be proud of at the end of the day, an provide for a family very well with, the big reason I have stuck with construction (union) so long is the heath care and the pension I have been in since I was 18 too and I have 10 years in so I am a lifer now I have too much invested to get out now. Good Luck to you be safe, us hard hats have to watch out for each other.

I am a laborer now workin out of LcL 1686 but a memeber of LcL 355.

Yeah I will most likely stick with it. I like the people to. They are nice honest people.
The medical is really good. This guy had brain cancer and survived. His medical bill with like 1.4 million dollars and all he paid was 2k.
If I do stay in it for 20 years to 30 the retirement isn't bad either.

Another plus is that you don't have to have experience in carpentry either.
