    Danica Patrick's win at Motegi.

I saw no other threads about this...

Am I the only one that saw this race as a forfeited lead to allow Patrick to win??
I've been watching racing for years and have never seen someone pit in for gas with 3 miles left. That's exactly what Castroneves did at Motegi.

    Now there's more.
Interestingly enough George killed Champ Car right about the same time Patricks first win happens.
Castroneves made it a point to say "she won fair and square". Who ever says that in racing?? Of course it's fair and square ....right.;)

I used to actually like Patrick till I realized she is a huge marketing tool for the IRL. And I wouldn't put anything past George. What a dick!

Whats to like about her? She's good for a female driver, but not aggressive enough to battle it out with the men. Personally, I think its a lot of physical attraction on most peoples parts. I just dont see it.

I thought Carpenter pitted with 5 laps to go and handed Helio the lead then Danica passed him..

Yeah, but he pitted with 3 laps to go. Danica only passed him because he was going in for gas.

Danica did a late pit when everyone stayed out, and ran very lean for the rest of the race. Everyone else was about 2 laps short on fuel, even when running full lean. She cranked the fuel map back up to full fuel and had no issues, Castroneves couldn't run wide open, and everyone else had to pit.

Smart pit strategy and smart driving.

CART died 5 years ago, "champcar" was never anything more than an abortion being kept alive on life support. Tony George did the sport a favor and put it out of its misery.

As Bernie E. would say, "Get back in that kitchen and make me breakfast."

Not a bad performance. Will we see it again? Doubtful.

LMAO, that's why Champ Car was so much better.

IRL added a bunch of rookie drivers to make it look like a full field as well. IRL cars are also boring compared to Champ Cars.

No race car driver ever pits with 3 miles to go ( I said 3 laps originally). That wasn't about strategy, it was about Castroneves and team letting Patrick get a win.

I cannot think of a single race car driver anywhere that I would rather bang...because drifting isn't racing.

The sad thing is you might be right about Danica, but the sadder thing is I just don't care. Georgy boy can take his boring IRL and shove it.
Ovals are the worst form of open wheel racing ever. It should have been abandoned 25 years ago when the cars got too fast. That is one of the moves that CART was going to eventually make. Tony didn't like that because it meant no more Indy 500 (at least on the oval) so he single handedly kept this archaic form of racing alive... or maybe I should say dead because that is what it did to way too many drivers.

CHAMP car died because the current owners were stupid and relied on the dumb concept that "Festivals of Speed" on temp street courses brought in fans. It doesn't. Great racing on great tracks does. The IRL with the Indy 500 didn't help because of the name recognition of the 500 and no other reason. Every time anybody sees an open wheel car in the US they say oh, look, an Indy car. Wrong. It's Formula 1, or it's CHAMP car. Indy (through the awesome history of that race) is the only thing non-fans recognize, just like the only racing in the US is NASCAR to them.

Danica won. Big deal. Just about anybody can win on an oval given the right pit stop breaks. It isn't strategy that wins the race for them, it is luck, pure and simple. Run a 24 hour race and strategy plays a big roll. On an oval, all it takes is a yellow at the right time (and you know who controls those) to win a race for you even if you are slow in a crappy car.
