    BMW CCA meeting tonight

    Hokay, So.

I can usually drag my wife to the meetings every once in a while, but it's usually the meeting they have twice a year at the dealership with free food. That's the one she usually goes to. She's 8 months pregnant, and I drove her an hour each way in GREEN HELL. Not bad. Usually, they give out prizes at drawings, and once I got a BMW hat that I wear from time to time. They only had 5 prizes, and of course the first one went to the pres of the local region here in the area. (He wins a prize EVERY time, I'm not kidding.)

I happened to be the last person called, and the Sales Manager, who has known me for YEARS, hosed my last name, but I stood up and was smiling like an idiot at everyone, trying to be a good sport because I thought I would get another gay prize like a hat or a coffee cup (I don't drink coffee), so I'm waiting all by myself up there, while he goes in an office to get my prize, and he comes out with THIS VVVVVV

GET OUT! Yup, 32 inches of flat panel LCD HDTV. FREE. (!!)

Needless to say, I was floored, and turned all red and stuff, and my wife was just laughing her tail off because I've been drooling over a flat panel for a couple years now, but we just can't justify the expense. Remember I mentioned that I brought GREEN HELL? I wasn't sure if it was going to fit, and I said so.. about half a dozen people were like, "That'll fit just fine in my car, no problem" blah blah. A lot of people came over and said congrats and all that, and we popped it in the back seat, and took off. Perfect fit.
    What a night!

    BMW CCA FTW!

Dude, you don't know how bad I wanted to come! I just couldn't be there that night.
I'm rollin' through there in a couple weeks on my way to V@V, though...

When I got a 32" a few years ago, it actually fit in the trunk, including the box, with absolutely no room to spare.
            Congrats on the TV!
Our chapter has the meeting at the dealer tonight.

Wow, impressive. I need to start making it out to more of the CCA regional gatherings. :D

              Congrats on the score.

Nice. That's a great idea for our Christmas meeting.

Yeah we have a meeting tonight too I believe. I never win shit either at these meetings and for some reason the chapter president gets the sweetest prize available. Go figure.

                    wha??

I won an X3 pen and a BMW lanyard at the last BMW Dealer open house in Raleigh.....

Trade that TV for some parts???? ;)

About 15 years ago, my wife an I were at Sam's Club, and she wanted to buy a 27" TV for her mom for Xmas. Keep in mind this was a pretty good size TV in a huge box (old-school CRT TV). We wheeled the thing out to the car (my '69 2002) and it was clear the box would no way fit in the car- so we took the TV out of the box, pulled off all the styrofoam and other wrapping and wedged the TV into the back seat of my 2002.... it fit with about 0.00000001" to spare.

Funny thing is, my wife was buying the TV for ME for Xmas!!! She got me good on that one.

Sheesh, that must have been quite a sight. I imagine as much as those old CRT's weighed, it probably made the '02 squat a bit as well.
