Dude at my work made a motorized bike out of a BMW promotional bike we got at the dealership. I think it goes around like 45 MPH. He however used a lawnmower engine.

We used to make them out of these scooters and spare bike parts, just bolt the motor to the back, use a small gear on it, big one on the wheel and an old brake cable for throttle.
