gun question.........

i am looking for a bushmaster M17S .223 bull pup.........in a left handed configuration. i shot my dad's last weekend and my cousins bushmaster AR-15 back to back. for the $3200 dollars he had into the AR i was not impressed compared to the $1100 total (compensator, 10X scope some smith work to fine tune it). my only bitch was that the ejection port is on the wrong side for a left handed shooter and was putting HOT brass out right on my chin...OUCH! i solved this with a bandanna (giving me the terrorist look) around my chin.

if i have to live with this, i'll figure out a more practical face protector, but i would like to get it with a left side ejection port. i emailed bushmaster last week but no response yet. does this gun exist?

I have about $1400 in a custom built Rock River AR15 and love it. There are some companies who make left handed AR15's out there. And I am sure there are some companies who probably make some kind of shield deflector for a right hand gun with a left handed shooter. Probably more so with the AR platform than the M17s though, but not 100% on that either.

Well I cant tell you where to find one other than gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com. Ar15.com is the largest site for gun information and you will find a lot of displeased people with that gun. It is not as practical is the AR platform and you can have a really nice Bushmaster AR for under 1k.

Your brother must have a really nice bushmaster to be running that price. I own more than a few and only have 1 that will top that when I place the suppressor on the end of the barrel.

Bushmaster AR15 list just went up $100 but still can be found at $899.00 and that is full boat on a gun.

Aimpoint or Eotech scope would run you $500 or so with mount.

And that right there will out shoot most people that would handle that weapon.

I just noticed that your in gun meca! Get on the local forums on Ar15.com and go shoot with them. They will most likely allow you to shoot anything you want. Even full auto. Just ask!

this is exactly what i shot (my dad's M17S )

maybe it was my cousins gun, but for ALL that $$ he had in it, i was kinda like WOOP-DE-DO. for WAY less $$ my dad's bull pup put down nice 1 1/2" -2" groups at 100 yards with almost no effort using the wrong ammo (it is sited in for Remington and i was using S&B), with less kick thanks to the compensator, and it was the first time i had picked up the gun!

the AR was lighter, and didn't rain hot brass on my chin, but that was about it. i also like the shorter overall length of it too.

Amazing info there, mostly police and military. So watch how you word things. The site does suck somewhat to non paying members when it comes to a search function. Try to make meets out there where you are. Dillon is in your back yard and they are the makers of the Dillon Aero or Mini gun. 5500 rounds a minute.

my friends dad used to work for Dillon, all i can say is wow!

i read some of the bitches about the gun, and for the most part my dad had them addressed with the scope, some trigger work, and a little clean up smithing, AND still came out at $1100 including a bi-pod!

i am not a survivalist (although i have plenty of guns for that). my dad is getting old (69) and is into varmint hunting and i am looking for something i could use for that together; without getting crazy (like him 22 -240, 7mm whisper, etc, etc.) and have fun at the range or shooting cans etc.
an 30.06 or 35 Remington is a little over kill for varmint hunting, that is pretty much what i have along those lines for hunting.

223 for range/shooting cans. alexander arms 6.8 upper, just flip uppers when the scenario changes. thats what im thinking about doing with my mp15t.

just get used to firing L. handed. That is what we/I do in the military for our M-16's. It becomes second nature, you wont even notice it after a while.

i just don't want to destroy the pelts! with a large caliber gun. they actually pay you good $$ for the pelts here in AZ. otherwise i would just use my 30.06 or the 35 REM., but they would go up in a big poooof. i don't want to vaporize them.
