Well that is half true. The United States has a huge underground facility in Colorado Springs I believe. Its for the political elite and socially elite. I do not remember how many they can fit but thousands and supply them with Fresh air, food, and water for over a year. There are even private owners of these places. Many videos on youtube.com

Just thought it was cool and kind like a superman movie with the crystal that contains the entire life of where ever superman was from.

Yeah, I've seen a few videos about the construction of that facility. Shit is insane. It's built in a hollowed out mountain with about twenty feet of clearance between the concrete walls of the facility itself and the cave walls. The whole building is situated on a platform supported by springs to dampen any movement caused by nukes, earthquakes, etc. I'm pretty sure it can survive a direct hit with a nuclear warhead. Crazy stuff.
