I can tell today is a little worse than yesterday. Just down on energy and my appitite is gone.

I've noticed my mouth is much more sensitive to spicey foods and this morning everything tastes off a bit. Lets just say the snozzberries don't quite taste like snozzberries anymore.

I feel like I've wasted a whole weekend loafing around the house but I can't seem to gather the energy to get anything accomplished.

      I guess these are after-effects

Are you taking any vitamins or anything? Did you take any when you were fasting?

No, the idea behind the water fast is that your healthy cells are not to receive any nutrition to ensure they stay in their shielded state.

As of Saturday I have been downing some expensive health products that are meant to help recover my immune system. My T-Cell count was already low before my 1st chemo round so I really need those to come back into a normal range.

Man oh man, Robert. I am so sorry. What blows most is I'm getting a month off from my chemo and will switch to a pill in a few weeks to polish off the last two rounds. I wish you weren't going through this.

Give your oncologist a call and tell him/her what's up. Be detailed. You may need your cocktail tailored to you a little or possibly get some preventative medicines to help get through the aftereffects. Discuss the fasting thing too and make sure it is the right thing or not. I'm leaning toward not because I know I had several episodes early on where eating lightly distinctly helped (ie: avoid fried stuff and biiiig meals).

I had to start taking a vitamin too because I could not have fresh fruits and vegetables for the strong possibility of clogging up my altered plumbing. It sucked hard. Who am I kidding... it's still sucking pretty hard these days but I can eat whatever I want again. ;) I'm getting better though still avoiding the fried stuff and sodas. It is the cost of living a healthy, full life.

Chat with your techs when you do bloodwork; the tests are kinda interesting and you get a sensation of knowing what they're watching for and why (protein counts, white cells, iron, etc). And if the IV is burning, tell 'em so they can adjust the rate. You may be there a little longer, but it won't be hurting.

I think you might be right about the fasting.. Not only was the first 2 days before pretty rough but the hours after were hell.

I think next time I will probably eat a small soft breakfast and some Malox to calm the extra stomach acid.

I'm finally starting to feel normal and getting back to eating normally again.

I still have a little trouble with nausea after meals but no problems upchucking.

Energy comes and goes in spurts.

Hey if it gets bad with the nausea ask for Zofren. I know its spelled wrong but it sounds like that and works in seconds. Hang in there man. Just keep a positive attitude and it makes it easier.

My doctor off the record, said if I can find it, smoke pot. It will give you an apatite. It does work. There are pills that they can prescribe that is made from POT that will give you the munchies. Ask them about it if it gets bad...

It might even be worth taking a trip out to CA where it is legalized for medicinal purposes. The shops that sell it have several varieties and have a better idea of what's in it compared to what you can find on the street. Getting it back home on a 2000 mile trip, on the other hand, might not be as easy of a task.

I'm pretty sure TN doesn't have legalized weed for medicinal purposes. Regardless, I work as a subcontractor to the govt' so they won't accept it either way.
