Thankfully that isn't a requirement. ;)
I found out in early August last year that I had stage 3 colon cancer. I'd been sick with a cough longer than normal and I was thinking the stinky old 325i I'd just bought and was gutting for a tracktoy had made me sick. Nada... tumor way down low and metastatic disease in my right lung and liver. Woohoo.
I dusted off my faith probably a lot like you're doing now and humbly found it was still good. A lot of prayers have been answered since those first few days though I will not kid you; it hasn't been a Sunday picnic.
I could go on and on but I've been doing that all along on a blog I started shortly after I first found out. It's at http://scogotabug.blogspot.com (It was much easier to blog than to wrangle a thousand and one emails!) I know yours is a different type of cancer but if you need some encouragment, feel free to read, message, or email me any time.
One fact really is true; there have been years of advancements made since many of the scary statistics you'll read were collected. If I believed what I read about my diagnosis, I'd have died of fright. So right away I recommend you take everything you hear with a grain of salt. The Internet is a powerful resource but stay skeptical. If you have questions, ask! The dumbest questions are the ones you keep to yourself and find no answer!
If you haven't called your health insurance carrier for help from a case manager, put that on your list. The bills and referrals and administrivia can be as daunting as treatment and the managers are there to carry that burden for you. I swear mine has wings and a halo. :)
Get organized too. You're headed into territory few of us ever plan to travel so good notes on what, when, who can help keep you sane... and can be therapeutic just to help you express yourself. I used an old 3-ring binder from some college class way back when. Keep the receipts for your office visits and medicines just in case you hit those IRS tax relief limits.
Thank your wife from time to time. I know firsthand how helpless my wife has felt at times. Watching me hurt and being able to do nothing has been agonizing. I try not often enough to let her know how much I love her and appreciate her help.- Sco

Sorry to hear that. Keep your head up and stay positive and you will be fine.
Went through a scare with my dad at the beginning of the year with a carcinoid tumor in his appendix. Thankfully it hadn't metastycized (spelling?) so they cut out about 10 inches of his colon and he was good to go.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

dam man! one of my best friends moms was diagnosed a few months ago. she is doing really well with good diet and and the right treatment. it may sound weird, but eating clean can really help. takes a lot of the stress off your body so it can use more of its power to fight the cancer. you will pull through this. good luck man!sigpic
