Chris doesn't give a flying fuck about the community. His only goal with that site is to make money. That's why there's shitloads of ads running (or at least there used to be) for shit that has NOTHING to do with cars, that's why there's that stupid fucking Autoblog bot that posts under his name about 30 times per day, and that's why he's charging for "Premium Memberships" now. He shows up every couple of months to ban people that talk shit about him or the site, and that's it. He posts nothing useful, doesn't contribute at all to the site, and just sits back and collects. Fuck Chris.Comment

I will step in here for a moment and make a few comments regarding Chris. Yes his goal is to make money. And why not, E30tech is a huge board with lots of potential. Most of the long term members are very helpful, their is a ton of useful information, just as there is here. The 'For Sale' Forum exchanges thousands of dollars a month, even as your own members have admitted, they only join to sell stuff.
But I want to clarify a few things here, The ads you mention have been gone now for a long time. It was a experiment, when it proved unpopular they where removed. The autoblog stories are only a few times a week and alot of people comment on them for their content. In addition they are only posted in the 'off topic' forum and don't seem to bother anybody except maybe you Mr. Anderson. In regards to the 'Premium Membership', its a great idea. E30Tech has a lot to offer content wise. Their are several advantages to the Premium Membership and it is a very reasonable price. That helps pay for lots of incentives that go back into the community such as the monthly give aways which typically value about a hundred dollars, magazine subscriptions, gift certificates for selected vendors, etc.
In addition, the Premium Membership was my idea, not Chris's. I approached him regarding the issue, and it has been a success. In addition every year E30Tech supports the family of one of our fallen members who died from cancer. We run a fundraiser and all the money collected, Chris doubles out of his own pocket, buys all the Christmas gifts, wraps them and ships them to the family.
So yes Chris does care about the community, more so then you do Mr. Anderson.
E30Tech is a great board and generates alot of income, not just for Chris, but also for its many members. If you notice I have been a member here since 2004 and this is my first post in many years. I personally don't like this board and Mr Anderson, you are a big part of that reason.
That is all.
And one more thing, TwoJ's sorry you got banned for some bullshit. I personally think your alright and appreciate some of the comments you have made in the past. Take Care and hope to see you back on E30Tech in the near future.Comment

Let the nutswinging commence.
Back when I bought my e30, I was regularly lurking these sites. Figuring out what i liked more.
And I always choose the site with the least amount of waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswafflesry and butthurt pussies. Which is why I regularly visit here.
I personally like this board, and Mr Anderson is a big reason why. Also. PNW Crew>*Originally posted by TeaguerFilling an Eta's tank with super unleaded will reach the cars maximum attainable performance level .

Well,
I really couldn't care less about the whole thing except for the fact that my old posts have been merged with someone else's... Who indeed seemed rather enthusiastic about my chassis products...However was not connected to BMW Zen Performance or Evolution Zen in any way other than as a customer.
When I was asked to remove any commercial retoric from my sig I complied.
All the BS going on about me spamming over there is just that Bull Shit...I have not posted anything in that forum since before long before May of 08.
I do not know Chris personally and have no opinion there...
However he does seem to protect and defend some "Rather Unscrupulous Merchants" and some "Rather Inferior Products" (that I am not in even in competition with.. the only "products" I sell to the public are Chassis Stiffenig Components).Comment

With all the R3V bashing that goes on over here, I'm surprised you guys are getting your panties so bunched about something I said about one person. Yes, Chris organizes the whole Josh Q fund thing, and I think that's great. But beyond that, having giveaways for parts and magazine subscriptions doesn't make a community. Those to me are incentives to keep people here. Chris threatens to ban members who make available some of the most sought after and rare e30 parts known to the scene, simply because they rarely post in the regular forums. He puts censorship tools in place to make it so you can't type the names of certain parts retailers. He bans people who talk bad about the vendors he's in bed with. That's not a community. That's getting rid of people who interfere with his business, and that's what this site comes of as to me. A business, not a community.
A thread was posted here about the PNW E30 Picnic, and there were 8 posts, from about 4 different members. No one here seemed to give a shit. I know there aren't a lot of members from the PNW here, but there were people coming from 14 hours away to make it, and no one here gave any interest whatsoever. Jordan constantly gets slammed for making blunt comments about people that usually deserve it, but does anyone mention the times when Jordan has done thousands of dollars of work on people's cars for free? Or when a member from California totalled his car and got stranded in Oregon, and Jordan repaired it like new for free, and even put the person up at his house? That's community. The only community interest I every see in most of the members of this site are people wanting Kristen to take her top off and post pics.
I have worked with a couple of the mods here in the past to try and smooth E30Tech/R3V relations, and end the stupid inter-forum drama. I squelch whatever fighting I can over on R3V, I've even gone so far as to ask members at R3V to remove quoations from their sigs talking shit about your site. But as soon as someone here gets a negative comment on their car from someone that frquents R3V, the bullshit starts all over again, about how mean we are, and how we're not a community, and all that bullshit. But it never seems to do any good, especially from this end. There's got to be a thread a week started over here about how someone thinks E30Tech is better than R3V, and all the little butt-hurt kiddies jump on board and start bitching about how mean we are, and how nice everyone at E30Tech is, and how everyone jerks each other off everytime someone starts a member's ride thread of their shitty looking car.
So if everyone here wants to keep up the bullshit about how great E30Tech is, and how much R3V sucks, go right ahead. I don't give a fuck anymore. I'm done trying to get everyone to get along. I've spokn my piece. Chris runs this site like a business, not like an enthusiast who cares about the community. He contributes almost nothing, at least that I've seen evidence of. If I'm wrong, so be it. But I refuse to believe that I'm the only one that sees it. Everyone else is too busy riding his sack to see it, that's fine. I could give a shit if he bans me, it won't make me lose any sleep. I'm not a "premium member" anyway.Comment

The only thing I ever did in the threads on E30tech was answer peoples technical questions and express my educated opinion as a 27 year veteran BMW Technician.
Hell, last Christmas I donated to JoshQ's kids that's an admirable thing E30tech does but...
Does one hand really wash the other?
I was invited to R3v by a member that seemed to appreciate it, and I have pretty much found a home.
The guys here can be crass, opinionated and even fucked up in general but...
It was the about the same on e30tech, just more armchair BMW gurus talking out the side of there neck.Comment

Four years ago I joined many sites.I landed here . This is the only site as far as I am concerned. At the time I joined that other site, I thought they were run by a company. The bottom line being the important thing. Not the people on the forums. I only go to the other sites when I am jonesin' for some tech info or need a part.Comment
