Undergrad Debt, how much did you incur?

Living in Georgia has one great benefit, the HOPE scholarship. I was a dummy and thought I could keep my high school study habits and actually make the grades. All in all I lost HOPE and have to pay tuition on my own. No parental help at all... cry me a river. My parents make too much money for me to get federal aid, though, I am actually 100% independent. The rules are, however, that I (or any other student) am considered a dependent of my parents until age 25 or both parents are dead...

I will re-qualify for HOPE in about 30 credit hours. Until then I will most likely have to take Stafford and Alternative loans.

How much debt did you guys accumulate, if any?
Lets not even talk about Med school, yet.

Will probably end up being like 40K.

Private schools are very expensive, but hopefully I'll be able to make it all back quickly once I'm out (75K average starting salary FTW!)

          What are you studying?

$75k is very unlikely unless you're going into investment banking or any other high-competition field. Morgan Stanley hired about 3 - 4 people from the computer science background into their business analysis program, and they were signed with $79k starting salary.

This is out of a class of 500 or so people in the computer science program.

$45k - $55k is more likely IMO, especially in today's job market. I just graduated in May...

13k... but that was back in 92 and I worked full time during undergrad.

Felt the pain second year out of college when all the loans hit. So I got a second job for a year working 3rd shift. Not only did I pay off all my loans but saved money since I had no time/energy for going out....

Work paid for my MBA... thank goodness!

Yup just like when I was an MET major and they told us, $60k a year starting, no problem.

The few of my buddies who stuck with it make marginally more than I do now. And I have a Public Relations degree. lol

You guys are shattering my dreams! :(

I'm studying CS with EE and Econ concentrations. About a third of my school's CS grads this year (so...10 people) went to a very well-funded startup to work on a classified project, and they're all extremely happy with their offers.

However, this isn't a job e-penis competition, it's a debt e-penis competition, and so far, mine is winning :D

                    CS = Computer Science?

I wish the best to you, but that seems like a field deep with grad's as of late. I wish I had the database/HTML experience to go with my Tech Writing. I wouldn't have a problem finding a $85-100k a year job.

Yep, Computer Science. EE = Electrical Engineering.

Last I heard, there have been less and less CS graduates. I'll go read statistics now, though.

um... I got paid to go to school... and have a pretty kick-ass job right now, getting full pay waiting to start. And great opportunities farther down the road.

edit: Pinepig, I feel your pain. I got through my commercial rating on my own, and its painful.

Only 2k in debt currently. HOPE pays for everything now that my GPA is high. I will probably have around 75k by the time I get done with pharmacy school.
