i work in a cube-farm and a bunch of us prank eachother's computers while we're not there. Such activites include (but are not limited to):

unplugging the mouse
changing keys on the keyboard

if someone leaves their monitor unlocked, then you can reverse the mousebuttons... shit like that...

Anybody have any good ideas? maybe from experience??

I remember a script on digg that would give someones computer "Tourette Syndrome" and randomly type cuss words into whatever document the person was using.

take a screen shot of the desk top icons, files and all.... then make that the back round.. take all the files and put it into a folder

the person will keep clicking on the picture.. and nothing will open

Beat me to it. I do it to all the non-computer literate people here at work.

Also, you can turn up ringer and ear piece volumes.

My favorite prank is this. One time, i saved up all the empty pen cartridges and then when i had enough, i swapped them with all of the pens in my bosses office.

Pretty funny IMO.

in xp at least, you can hide all of the icons, and you can make the taskbar hidden

We would always put popcorn kernels under the F11 key. Thats the key that helps you get to the orders someone faxed in. The numbers count as yours, so its a race to them. This would be applicable with any key however.

Here are a few I do on a regular basis:

Using a small black zip tie, tie the cord of the phone together as far up as you can and then call the extension... the whole phone will come flying off the desk, bonus points for spilling coffee etc.

Put mayonaise under the height adjustment handle, then put the chair all the way down... self explanatory what happens here

If there are styro foam cups in the coffee area, cut out the bottom of the cup(s) with a new razor blade along the mold line, it should hold until about almost full then release all the liquid at once.

May or may not work with your computers at work but it SHOULD work with XP.

I took the cord out of the phone (where the hand piece connected to the phone and put a tiny piece of scotch tape over the contacts for the phone and cut it where you couldn't see the tape at all. Plugged it back in and called him. Of course, no sound when you pick the phone up. He couldn't figure it out, even after looking at the plug I tapped over.
Bonus points for only taping over the wire that is responsible for the mic or the earpiece. Depending which way you do it, people will either think he is being an asshole (Hello? Hello!?) or he will think others are being an asshole.

Another one is to turn the contrast on the monitor all the way down. It will make the screen completely black. Make sure you know how to turn it back up though, without being able to see the screen.
