I know several people who have been through the Shepherd Center's rehab program. It's the best in the Southeast - maybe even the country.

How bad was his injury? Was it a T-vertebrae, or a C? Is he paralyzed from the chest down?

C6. He has no feeling in his body or legs. He has movement in his arms but his right better than his left. No hand feeling or movement. He is left handed. He is starting rehab on Monday.

The hospital has been wonderful in providing hope and care. Im glad he got there just 3 days after it happened. I think that will give him more of a chance. People knowing how to deal with this.

Damn. That's a bad deal. Frank Williams (Formula One team owner) suffered that same injury in a road car accident. So did Ernesto Fonseca (motocross/supercross racer). Losing hand function is a terrible fate for a musician.

The cool thing is - stem cell research may eventually bring a cure for paralysis. I keep up with the progress being made in that arena, and the advances that have been made in Europe and Asia look promising.


I'll keep him in my thoughts.

Thats awesome to hear Dub. Hopefully the fact that he has minimal movement in his arms is a positive sign. As bad as it is, being paralyzed below your arms would be a termendous upgrade from neck down. Hopefully he makes as close to a full recovery. I wish that man the best.
