That's right, only if you have or are answer this question. Guinness, served hot or cold? if both under which conditions?

I went to Ireland with my rugby team back in high school. I drank quite a bit of Guinness there, but only because I was in Ireland. I wasn't too big of a fan. I also went to the Guinness brewery for a tour. When you finish the tour they offer you a pint. But the place smelled so horrible through out the entire tour that I didn't want to touch the shit, and I haven't since.

Oh, and I only had it cold.

After homebrewing for a few years the smell of the wort is wonderful. At first it hits you like a brick of nasty but after a while you appreciate the subtleties.

Beer develops its full flavor around 45-50 degrees Farenheight. Crap domestic beer has no real flavor so when it is warm it is unpleasant. Real lagers and ales will taste better when warmer.

Thanks for the replies. Back in college by friend swore up and down that the guinness was supposed to be room temp. He would get pissed about it being cold and that he had to wait. Principles, right? haha. I think I'll have a cold one this weekend,it's been about 5 years since I last tried it. Maybe I will like it now.

Brewery was a fun tour but when you get to the top (the bar)and it is crazy busy just go to one side of the circular bar and stand by four or five poured Guinness (there will be many), tell the bartender they are for you. They honestly have no idea who ordered them because it is so busy and everyone gets a free one with the tour so they dont really care. They use these funny little red rings to keep track and the bartenders are just to overwhelmed to keep track. Once you have your beers take them over two by two to some perfect stangers who look like they like to drink and and make new friends, shit you have four beers. When you are done be very carefull of the stairs they are f-ing steep after three or five Guinness. Good beers to drink in pubs in Ireland are Smithwicks made by Guiness and over there pronounced Smidicks and my favorite crazy cold Carlsberg. It goes agains all of my home brewing fun but the super cold Carlsberg tastes amazing.
