    scammers -_-

hey guys, so i'm trying to sell an ibanez electric guitar. and i got an email. can you guys decipher this? it sounds fishy...
the previous email was just him replying to see if it's still for sale.
    Hello,
I really appreciate your response to my previous mail. I'll like to buy this item, pls do me a favor of taking down the ad from CL so as to be rest assured that I'm in hold of the item, anyways I don't have time to come have a look cause of my Job transfer and shortness of time but you don't need to bother yourself with the shipment, I'll take care of that by engaging the services of a mover, hence I'll be sending a check and it will be delivered via United Parcel Service, so i'll need you to provide me with the following information to facilitate the mailing of the check.

    1.Your full name
2.Your mailing address be it residential or postal address
    3.Your cellphone number.
    4.Final Price

I'll have my mover come over for the pick up as soon as you have cashed the check.
N.B UPS does not deliver to a P.O box addresses.. Have a wonderful day.

first time selling, just dont know what to look for..

Yep - it's a scam. He is going to send you a check for more than the value of it, and ask that you western union him the remaining money. The check will bounce, and you'll be shit out of luck.

I get these emails pretty much every time I sell something on CL. Mark it as as spam and move on.

doesnt sound like a scam if you can cash the check...that's where it all fails. i say get the check, proceed with the sale in parrallel...worst case its a scam but you are still able to sell the guitar.

              geeez the e-paranoia!

I am John Larry I fortunately saw your (OBC temp sensor) posted on the Roadfly.com for sale and i'm very much interested in buying it from you.I'm based here in California. I will be responsible for the shippment from your location to my base, which my shipper company will come for the shipping arrangement via cash for the item,so I would want you to get back to me with your asking price before paying the cash and recent pictures and also the present condition of the item I would await a reply from you...

why call me ignorant? if you were any smarter you'd know when to stop, what options you have and when to not even waste your time....From the info provided i'd go ahead and get that check. cash it. wait 3-4days and check with the bank. give guy the okay for shipping instructions. who knows if anyone else will buy the guitar idk the details..

you can proceed with your sale in parallel, doesnt change a damn thing.
                        No more e30s for me.

If they do not refer to the item you're selling by name ("item"), or if they refer to it EXACTLY like you worded it in the ad, then it's probably a scam.

I was hoping someone would catch that. :D

Back to the topic, if an e-mail has the words "wire" or "funds" in it, it is most likely a scam.
