    Home security

Cars in my neighborhood, including my parents have been being vandalized, so I need a simple home security camera set up for under 200 dollars.

I would like the set up to be 2 cameras with perhaps some sort of a direct feed into the computer, but one would suffice I suppose.
It must, MUST be able to see at night and record clearly.
It doesn't have to be a full fledged video camera, more like a gas station camera with something clear enough to be able to distinguish license plates.

If I'm way off base in terms price here let me know, also point me in the right direction please.

USB "web cam" and some software will do the trick - not sure if it will work with two cameras - you'll have to research that.

The software looks for changes in the video feild, and records when ever it sees a change.

    Google "usb camera motion detection"

See now is there a way to get that to work wirelessly somehow?

My computer is inside and the camera will be outside.

High point. less than $80 brand new. Barrel is warped when the first clip is expelled.

Look through that link, they have a huge variety of surveillance stuff. You are probably going to need a day/night IR camera so you can catch actual good footage of their plates and them in the act during the night.

If they vandalize it, maybe they'd be kind enough to bring a can of alpinweiß II with them and paint the hood.

You should be fine with whatever you choose to do though, there's only like a 3 or 4 hour window when you aren't awake and on here making unnecessary posts, so I doubt the perps will have enough time to get it out of there without you knowing.

just park your car on a steel plate, and hardwire the power lines above your house into your car so anyone who stands on the steel plate and attempts to touch your car will be fried with however many thousands of volts go through those power lines.

or just get a dog (like a German shepherd) and tie it up outside by your car. I guarantee that will stop any perpetrators.

My car sleeps in the garage

Also it seems like they are doing to from a car or something.
