LOL the city you live in now separated from the US as far as I care. Good luck in your plan!

As far as the Japanese catching up.... Toyota just posted gross sales higher than any of the Big 3 and Honda is turning massive profits... in this hard economic times.

I just wish all this would hit rock bottom and get over this bleeding of the US artery! Im about ready for the rebuild. But its far from that!

      honda making money!

I don't have one shred of sympathy for the mess the Big 3 is in. They made their own bed.....now they can sleep in it. Meanwhile the Japanese are gaining ground. Quickly.
        +1

The Japanese have always been years ahead of us. The just haven't been as far ahead of us in the last 10-15 years as they were in the late 70's and 80's but they have been ahead of us never the less.

They didn't make the engine more efficient, they just added an electric motor and batteries. So basically, the miles driven using the electric motor causes the average MPG to go up because you aren't using gas when driving on electric. It's stupid.

Here is another group doing the same thing basically:

In highschool, I studdied all this kind of crap. See here:

I'm the tall skinny kid in the blue.

Hydrogen powered electric cars are the way of the future. Either that or PIEV. Either way, everything is going to go electric, but not until battery technology increase (gets cheaper) and/or hydrogen fueling stations are common.

I was just reading in the paper the other day that there is a contest for average joe people to make a car that gets 100mpg's +. They feature a guy that was building an older mustang, I believe it was a fox body, he explained that most cars today are only 9-10% effecient. His fox body was getting around 80mpg's w/ 400 hp and did not loss any of its drivablility because it was upwards of 35% effiecent. I'm going to see if I can find the article, it was in the Toledo Blade.

            EDIT: found it

"This could be an American-built engine that could save the American auto industry."--I'll call bullshit on this qoute from the article. Guarenteed it makes it overseas to be produced, if the big 3 get the technology.

                "

this sounds from the vague description of the engine like a attempted reproduction of the "Hot Vapor Engine" built an engineered by the great Smokey Yunick in the mid 80's. He built the original prototype out of a iron duke powered fiero. Google it.

Doug Pelmear is the guy with the Mustang. When I heard about this, like mid-july, I did a tiny search or three, since my BS indicator was hovering about 8.5...

A random post on a forum:
If anyone knows about my ordeal with this joker then I won't need to get into the story. Anyway, this is the same guy that invented the Valley girdle pro and you can take a stock block to 900h.p. and 7500rpm. He's a con/scam artist and will take your money quicker then you can blink. Then if you get your money back via a chargeback because he sold you junk, he will sue you in his hometown and then send the judgement to a collection agency to hound you. I went to his town to fight him (had a pretty solid case) but the judge (probably friend) ruled that the block he sold me (with a hole in it) was as described in his advertisement. Just beware of this guy, that's all I'm going to say...he like to threaten that he will sue everyone on this site as well.
There's a reason he's banned from here and his i.d. has been banned from ebay as well.
