New(er) car....ideas?

Well, my time owning an e30 has ended, I have decided to sell it and buy a more reliable new(er) car for college. Here's the run down of what I want and what I've got to spend.

- sub 10k
- 5spd
- rwd is a plus

My dad isn't too entertained with the idea of a newer bmw because he see's it as a bigger money pit than the e30, tried the e39 and he shut it down. along with the e46. I still want something that I can enjoy driving. Ideas?

Honestly i would just go buy a lower mileage E30 318 and spend the extra coin on new suspension and tune. I would also consider a honda civic. I would just want something cheap that gets good gas mileage and can fit all your drunk ass friends in.
