i usually fill up my bpa-free nalgene (having friends at rei rocks) 3 or 4 times a day. we have this really sweet filtration setup at work and i just got a new kitchen at home replete with a GE advantage like 8 stage filter setup so i always take advantage of it, hardly ever buy bottled water.

1 espresso in the morning, maybe one in the afternoon, and this super secret persian herbal tea at night

and coors light is practically water...

My health freak of a Xcountry coach always told us you should have about 32oz for every 50 lbs you weigh, for when you are working out.

I drink 3 to 6 12oz cans Mt. Dew a day at work and I am turning into a fat ass. I have tried to change my ways but Yellow number 5 is just so damn addictive....

Lately I have been sneaking in a couple of pint glasses of water during the day..

I drink about 2 liters of mountain dew a day, then I have these huge plastic cups that are about 1 liter of water which I drink about 3 a day.

    Edit:

I re-use plastic water bottles all the time too.

I don't drink nearly enough at work, I know that. But whenever I'm at home, I've generally always got a giant glass of ice water with me.

You are already dehydrated when you're thirsty.

Drinking water is a careful balance between not enough and too much. Not enough, and you're dehydrated. Too much and you deplete the salts in your blood stream

Only water plus the many forms of Asian Tea for me, typically Oolong and the plethora of Green Tea offshoots (time spent in Japan can really shape your preferences). Strict teetotaler here.

Based upon some of the comments provided here, I would say that a good deal of you are dehydrated, especially you coffee drinkers (caffeine is a natural diuretic, you will urinate more especially considering the amount of caffeine found in coffee). Just from a basic stand point of the body's output of fluid, you will have to at least consume two and a half liters of water daily. Men typically lose somewhere close to one and a half liters of fluid a day through urination. Another liter can be lost from other body processes such as breathing, sweating, and moving them bowels.

I sincerely hope that some of you R3Vr's are not re-using the plastic bottles that the water originally comes in. These are typically made form PET (science talk = poly-ethylene terephthalate), of which studies have shown can leach the human carcinogen DEHP [Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate]. Should really only be a one time use deal.

Brita/Pure water filtration FTW. Has saved me in excess of $150 a year from purchasing cases of water bottles.
