Not sure if anybody else is really interested in this, but i just stumbled over this and thought i would share it.
If you have some spare time and are intrigued by the history of motorsports, i highly recommend watching these vids.

4. (1914. WWI 1919-20 + 1920-30 Lost Footage) and the end of the Pioneer Era. Beginning of the Golden Age of Motorracing
5. (1930-31) End of the Golden Age. Depression hits.

Watching these documentaries and seeing these cars in real life makes me think time and time again about how racing must've really been like in those days.
The times where they raced cars on wooden wheels with tires that barely gripped the road. With brakes that could barely slow you down enough for a corner, which will be gone through sideways.
Wearing nothing but goggles and a leather hat. No seatbelts, no ABS or traction control. Electronics? Thou must be joking! ;)
Those were the times when men were men. Where people died almost every race. Where the racers were fully committed to racing and would do anything to keep going and simply were not scared away by the thoughts of death. :loco:
Nothing will ever come close to this time again.
