    The First Amendment

When the democrats had their big convention their where no protests.
Ron Paul is currently have his convention and their are no protest.

I am curious why people are so upset as to protest the RNC?

And why is it necessary to shoot projectiles and tear gas into peaceably assembled protesters?

The first amendment to the constitution gives the specific right to peaceably assemble.

To me it just smacks of the current republican mindset. Wiretapping, torture, circumvention of international treaties and laws, secrecy and police action, illegal wars and aggression, preemptive military actions.

I mean look at whats happening outside the convention center, it looks like a hardliner police crackdown. I understand the other night they had some hooligans throwing park benches and breaking windows and they arrested 300 people, that was yesterday.

The images remind me of images of police states and goverment crack downs you see in other countrys.

Just another breach and disrespect for the constitution. yes, vote for More of the Same McCain.

    :shakes head in disgust:

Police fire chemical agents, projectiles at RNC protesters

The protesters were noisy but peaceful as they approached the convention. Once they arrived, a police officer read an order to disperse, CNN reporters on the scene said.
But almost immediately, officers along the exit route opened fire with gas and projectiles. In one instance, an officer stepped out of line to hit a young woman with pepper spray as she ran for the exit.
St. Paul police fired chemical agents and projectiles into a large crowd of protesters outside the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night.

So you want people to disperse, yet you block the exit route and pound everyone with tear gas and rubber bullets, WTF?

The Republican convention, which began Monday, has been designated a "national special security event," which means the Secret Service is responsible for planning and implementing security.
Was the Democratic convention labeled a "national special security event"? Why not?

op you need to read more than one article. there were many confirmed reports of the protesters planning for months a violent and as they put it anarchist greeting for the rnc to st paul. it's sad that people can't protest peacefully in this country anymore.
      and the restore begins...

Republican party is pretty unpopular right now. There were protests in Denver, just not as big. 1968 Democratic convention was a much bigger clusterf**k.

Society always needs someone to vilify. At the moment in US history, its the Republicans, lots of people like to point their fingers at someone doing something wrong.
