    r3vegans? veggies?

    Roll CALL!!!

Just curious to see if any fellow r3v'ers don't eat meat.

I haven't had any meat (including fish) since the beginning of this summer and I'm really liking it. Also I don't ever have any dairy products... I'm not hardcore vegan... but I'm trying.

I'm beginning to get into the raw foods, dehydrated foods type arena, to preserve the nutrients, but I have to have some type of meat from time to time. (every few days)

I cant. Im from Argentina. Why live life if youre going to make yourself suffer through it? Enjoy what life has to offer, I say. But I do respect the people that can pull it off. It seems to have a positive effect on mood and general health. I dont, in any way, look down upon the people who choose to do this. BUT........ as with everything, I cant stand the people who want to push it on you. I think my family would disown me if I ever said something like that. haha. "Im not eating meat anymore." It may be worse than telling them I was gay. No jk, but you get the point.

I never understood the vegan excuse of humans being omnivores, and capable of moral thought, so we shouldn't hurt the food animals.

I've been vegetarian for about five years. Definitely NOT one of the smug ones... I find it hilarious when people automatically start defending the consumption of meat. I couldn't care less what anyone chooses to eat. I don't think meat is gross, I just don't eat it.

i was a vegetarian for 13 years and started eating meat again about 9 years ago. i've been thinking about going back to being a vegetarian again but its going to be hard. my wife and i are trying to first cut back on how much meat we do eat and then go from there.

They are delicious - but not worth it IMO. Our bodies just aren't made to process red meat. Not to mention 2 of the leading causes of death are directly related to meat consumption.

However, I had delicious BBQ yesterday.

But seriously, I love eating meat. Chicken is pretty gross and pork isn't the greatest, but I couldn't live without eating red meat. ^^^I'd eat her in a heart beat too.

I feel kind of the same way Mariano does. I respect the people that do it/ believe in it and HATE the people that try and push it on me.

Ive went about 9 months without eating meat before. I lived off of cheese pizza, beans, and rice. Though I did eat seafood on ocassion. It was difficult at first, but it wasnt so bad afterall. I lost like 12 lbs just from not eating meat.

Right now, Im doing no carbs, since Im done gaining, now Im cutting. This shit is 10xs harder than not eating meat.

Americans eat too much meat as it is. They feel that meat has to be present in every meal. That also contributes to the poor environment we live in. It takes a lot more energy to raise meat, than harvest crops. So those who are going veggie, thats a cool thing. I may join that again after this, and just get my protein from shakes.

Maybe you guys could share what you eat, and enjoy, so I (or others) can take it in, and maybe do veggie a little easier.

Last year, my daughter announced that she was now a vegetarian. So, in my usual parenting style, I said, "Cool. Let me know how that works out." The next day I soaked down a bunch of hickory chips, fired up the charcoal pit & proceeded to smoke a couple of yard birds. Within 30 seconds of bringing the birds indoors, the kid's vegetarian status kinda faded away to nothin'.
