Because being a "republican" doesn't mean that you have to be wealthy - this is a huge societal misconception. It means you don't expect other people to take care of your daily life, solve your problems for you, etc. There are a LOT of e30 owners who are extremely hard working people who are striving for a better life - these people represent the future of the republican party to a certain degree.

It's cause the old fuck has alzheimers. Hopefully Palin is up for the chore, b/c McCain will last a year or 2 tops before his old ass crokes.

I actually agree with you. Unfortunetly, the conventions didn't reflect on that.

At the RNC over 50% of the attendees had net incomes over $500,000 per year, and it was 87% white people.

Compared to the DNC, where 55.7% were white and only 21% had net incomes over $500,000

                :/

Numbers like that serve to further perpetuate the stereotype unfortunetley.

riiiiiight. so i should assume the same about you because YOU were at a party with a bunch of stoners. sidenote: i was at church last week and the preacher told me to vote for mccain. fuck religion and all its stupid hypocracy and the mccain bandwagon. see how that doesnt make much sense....

Seeing as how 74% of the US is white, 87% does not get my panties in a bunch.

                    How about an age breakdown?

Did you ever think that maybe the people that went to the DNC might not have had jobs and were there to see what the Obama man would say about income redistribution?

And maybe that most of the working class are Republican and had to work during the week of the RNC and only the owners of such companies or people of wealth that could take off during the work week?

It's a sad state of affairs, when people left with the responsibility of choosing their leaders, make said decisions by a Candidate's 3+ wife or something "drifting" That's like saying Bill Clinton got the Election cuz his wife rode a golf cart.

That is where the "misconception" comes from.

I am all about self responsibility which according to you,uofom3, is a Rep only stance... I think there are a good number of dems that believe that as well. But, the Reps do help the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor. That's why i was surprised about how many republicans are on here.

I am more a performance based citizen. The reps had the presidency for 8 years... and I believe we are worse off than we were 8 years ago. The only other candidate who has a shot at winning is Obama. So he will most likely get my vote. Granted the dems had congress... but it's hard to pass anything BIG without presidential support.

Our national debt is now 10 TRILLION dollars... I don't know if McCain or Obama will be the one to realize this, but the most important thing any politician could do for our country atm is to lower gov't spending and start trying to nibble away at that number. Yes i know that "only" about 5-6 trillion of that is federal debt and the rest is private, but imagine how much more valuable the dollar would be if we only had that 4-5 trillion dollar debt. And it's a wonder private citizens don't know how to budget their money, enter into loans intelligently, or just say "no" to high interest credit cards...

lol sorry for the OT rant.

I think it is yet another reason not to vote for McCain. Its a cool hobby, but the recklessness negates all the experience that McCain touts as advantage.

                              Another paradox from the Republicans.
