Does anyone want to take a guess at how much of that $3,250/person goes to purchase crystal meth? I would think that the longer you use crystal, the less able you are to afford it. I'm just taking a stab in the dark here, but doesn't it seem likely that Alaska supports a lot of drug habits.Last edited by ragged325; 09-14-2008, 08:47 AM.Comment

Funny thing is looks like more people on the west coast, including where you live in Ca, use meth more than Alaska!

I thought there was a thread around here about how people hate the gov't giving handouts to people for having lots of kids. Sorry. I thought they'd just spend the money on booze and crack. I was just trying to jump on the bandwagon. I guess you're right that people will spend the money to feed their families. I apologize.Comment

I'm not saying there's not some truth in what you are saying, but that article was written with a very distinct bias. Doesn't make it untrue, just makes me wonder what the rest of the story is. in fact, at the beginning of one of the articles, it says clearly that the state pays dividends from tax money invested. So, what that sounds like to me is that it's the people of Alaska's money (it's their state that's being drilled- see Pinepig's response) that was invested wisely, and the people of Alaska are seeing that return. Not sure, but there's some small details like this that get glossed over in articles like what you posted above that could dramatically alter the substance of the article's accusations, which undercuts the article's credibility. While the accusations may be true, that article is half the story.
also, drop the Meth thing. It doesn't really have anything to do with Gov. Palin. Every place has its problems, blaming Gov. Palin for Meth is like blaming Janet Reno (Gov. of AZ) for illigal immigrants.sigpic89 M3Comment
