Can we discuss the terms OE and OEM

OE- Original Equipment. Came from BMW (or other auto maker) on the car as a stock component.

OEM- Original Equipment Manufacturer. An actual company that made and continues to make OE parts or parts to OE specs.

    Here is a true statement:

"My 1988 m3 has offset CAB as OE."

    Another:

"The CAB on my e30 are centered, which are OE for the e30m3, but I bought them from an OEM."

    Here is a false statement:

"I want to find used OEM e30m3 five lug suspension."

    The correct way:

"I want to find used OE e30m3 five lug suspension."

Am I blowing this out of proportion? Maybe. The meaning of a sentence can be completely changed with the wrong acronym.

My examples may not be the best, but you should be able to figure it out... well, it is r3v, though.

Blunt explained this to me once, but I have since forgot.

Paging blunt to explain once again...

How does this not make sense?

Oe = original equipment installed on said vehicle.

Oem = Original equipment manufacturer, say lemforder makes the control arms in their factory, sends them to bmw, then they get packaged and sold as such. OEM is the guys who get the contract, and make the 2,000,000 struts for the annual build or whatever.

This is getting pretty picky about something that I think most people would understand.
