Anyone near? What is the local scoop on this? Sounds like they're not evacuating people? WTF?

They're evacuting lots of people. Everyone in my neighborhood has their windows boarded up. All the freeways have been gridlocked for the past 2 days with people leaving."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine." -

I'm taking pictures of my house and all contents right now. They are evacuating lots of zip codes in harris county (houston) and all of Brazoria county (where I live)."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

a 105 mph storm is not that much of one, flooding would be more of the problem. A great reason to get out of work and have a beer party more than anything.Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs!

They are anticipating something like 130-135 at landfall.
Also, this isn't florida. Things aren't built for this kind of shit. The last major hurricane we had was 1983."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

It was supposed to be heading right for me in Corpus. Me and my roommate live on Padre Island, so we were really worried, had our mattresses in the bathroom, bags packed, everything of value ready to be movedto the car and driven out, then the storm turned north overnight so we'll probably stay here. It's still offshore, and 100 mi. North, and coastal roads an docks are flooding. My roommate and I are headed to a buddy's apartment inland for tonight just in case the bridge gets flooded.sigpic89 M3Comment
