Mason / Zen The Latest Dirt...and some R&D.

EDIT: The thread on the brace is here: the Thread on the Brace is here: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=122501

I dropped off the planet for a few weeks due to life in general and other stuff...

As many of you know I have a knack for pissing off the multitudes, I may be slightly insane and if you catch me on a bad day I can even be a righteously fucked individual.

It would seem that sometimes my best bet would be to quit....

But my head is just too hard for that.

The latest dirt is that my buddy Mason and I have manged to alienate yet another company that will no longer be carrying certain products...

Oh well... Fuck em. It's still "the best shit ever" now you just can't get it from them...

    On to R&D:

I'm sure that I will regret talking about this in public but here I go.

One of those little niggling things on the e30 chassis that is rear chassis flex (I just tripped over a question here in another thread about one of the problems).

John and I are re-working the solution.

These are some shots of some components for a new rear brace "system":

(Hmmm if they were wider could see a secret)

    Now... Let the argument begin...

Here are some talking points:"Rear braces are useless""I can build a better one in my garage""That Zen Guy is a dick""Mason is a dick""I wish I had a dick"

Looks pretty damn beefy to me. How much is it going to cost?

That's pretty beefy. What makes it better than competing rear strut braces?

          More than the early style...

But it does do more, you see the floor of the e30 trunk is kind of like a paint can lid...

Torque is transmitted to it via the rear diff mount...

          Needs something there...

Competing? I don't get the question

            Missing "Eat a dick"...

Back on topic, that brace looks awesome. Am I allowed to ask what sort of modification one would have to do to mount it to the diff? Also, its there a price estimate so far?

Ok, what makes it better than IE's brace?

What makes it better than something I fab up and weld in between the strut towers?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just wondering. I know the IE bar's mounts are comparatively flimsy, but I haven't done the numbers to see how beefy they need to be.

                Bolt in...

                you need a drill...

                and three hands...

                Nothing new there...

Mason and I haven't talked about a price, that is most likely what separates us from the "competition"

the only criteria we set out for any project is Quality, Form and Funtion. (correct engineering)

IE braces are not even close...

If you have the equipment and knowlege you could build one too...

You would be amazed (I know I was)...

Damn man I just bought one of your current style rear braces from your webpage last night. Any chance you can stop the order for the rear brace and send one of the new style instead? Are they ready yet and how much more will they run?

It will be quite a while before this hits and it's going to be quite a bit more money.

                    Shot you a pm.

                        Got it...

I'll also let everyone know that there is the possibility of a retrofit kit in the works for the current style rear brace...kind of depends on the demand.

I'd be in for one if I keep my 93 Cabrio. It definitely needs better rear stiffness. Thanks for experimenting with E30 improvements. Now if you'd conjure up some Z4 Coupe parts: the spiritual successor to the 325is....

No place to bolt it in a cabriolet, different animal....
