yeah human nature isnt human nature. todays human nature is fueled by media. yesteryears nature was fueled by instinct and the need to survive. we are no longer humans. we are slaves to a system, juming through hoops to get what we "need" never really satisfied with what we have we jump through more hoops to where our sole purpose in life is to jump through hoops. and when you ask "why do i have to jump through hoops. hoops seem rather non related to anything or even pertinent" you will never get a straight foward answer cause there is no more straight foward answers. they all died with our souls.

i own my business, so i dont have to worry about my employer going out of business, i do however have to think about keeping my employees employed so that they can support their families....and that is stressfull.

I remember when it was cool to think like this.

Then I had a kid, and realized that my family was the most important thing in the world, and nothing was more terrifying than the idea of losing my job and not being able to give them everything they need. Someday when you grow up, you'll realize that, too.

Wow, that is extremely original and insightful. What you fail to realize is that human nature is still human nature. It is no different that it ever has been, but different things are available to us now.

    Same toilet, different shit.

The last few posts remind me of a little song...

'Cause life is a game that no one wins
But you deserve a head start, the way you're life's goin'
So throw in the towel, 'cause your life ain't shit,
Now take the towel and hang yourself with it!

Life's short and hard, like bodybuilding elf,
So save the planet, and kill yourself!
If you're feelin' down and out with what your life is all about
Then lift your head up high, and blow your brains out!

people in general don't want to say fuck it to life, the world, other people, etc. Obviously, we can't all get along all the time. Obviously, things are going to fail.

Most people don't say "we're all going to die anyway" and the go about living their life like that. If that were the case, society would be a SERIOUS mess (far worse than it is today).

I just think that is off-base to suggest that society as a whole operates that way. There is something inside most people to strive for stuff, to want stuff, to do well, etc. You may not be totally wrong about some of the things you said, but people in general don't operate on a "fuck it i'm going to die" system. This starts to turn the conversation into philosophy, or behavioral economics/finance and that starts us down a deep hole.

that isn't very optimistic, or even realistic.

BUT - everyone thinks that the government must be the answer to their problems... so we're fucked either way.
Saying no one is personally accountable for their actions and then going "oh well" isn't the way to win in the long run.

Americans are spoiled brats. Babying them won't help a damned thing. There's plenty of drugged out Brits on the DOLE across the pond if you want to see a good reason why handouts are a bad idea.

Those 18 year olds don't need a prize for being capable of breathing. They need to realize prices fluctuate, emerging markets want food and oil, and that they won't always get their way or what they want without working for it.
