Trails, Street & Parks in NC (bike question)

i'm headed to NC for 10 days on monday to see a friend get married in GSO, visit my family in W-S, and chill with some friends in Asheville. i intend to ride some xc/dh, and some bmx while i'm there. the wedding is 1 afternoon and i'm going to the coast for 3 nights. that leaves me 6 days to kill, and while drinking & smoking will surely dominate the schedule(), i want to get some good riding in. my friends have graciously procured some bikes for me & g/f to ride, and have a good knowledge of their respective areas, but i know some of you north cackalack e30 owners/bikers have some trails up your sleeves, so hook a brother up! where should i ride? what shops are not to be missed? anything new in a-town, w-s, or gso that i need to check out? sk8parks, sweet street spots? tia.

i'll happily share my locals knowledge of colorado's trail systems in return.

I would see about Mount Mitchell. It's the highest point east of the Mississippi. 5 mile trail, I don't know about bikes but check.

thanks, but the park does not appear to be bike friendly. come on, there have got to be some NC guys that ride bikes who can chime in here. and 5 miles is pretty much a warm up.

Uhhh...Check out pilot mountain, I don't know the park's name. Also I suppose that hanging rock state park should have a trail or two. (I don't bike, but I THINK people go to these places to. Plus, theyre pretty parks anyhow.)
